I was bored...so yeah. Please leave a review! I'd love to know what you think!

As always, JKR owns everything.

"Oh James! It's beautiful!" Lily gasps as he holds out the glinting ring toward her.

Snatching it from his fingers she slides it carefully onto her delicate finger and admires it.

Sirius, who is perched on the kitchen counter looking graceful and undignified all at the same time takes a swig of firewhiskey and nearly chokes.

Laughter bubbling up in his throat as he catches sight of the engagement ring.

Lily tears her eyes away from the ring for a moment to give him a look of concern.

"Wrong pipe Lils," he hacks, swallowing another gulp of whiskey to stop the coughing. "it's a gorgeous ring."

She beams at him, practically glowing and turns back to her boyfriend, now fiancé.

Over her shoulder James catches his eye, death glare on the highest mode. Sirius winks and finishes the bottle hoping off the counter and slipping out the door, ignoring James' eyes on his back.

The smile slips from his lips as he walks down the street.

Because he knows why James choose that ring.

And it's a risky move.

Choosing a ring the same color of your lover's eyes.

"Hmm…no not this one." James hummed as he peered at the glass case full of diamonds.

"Oh, what about this one here?" He asked, pointing to a dark wrought silver ring.

"That's not an engagement ring sir…" The clerk said slowly, as if afraid James didn't quite understand.

"Well I'm paying for it. Let me see it." James snapped, holding his hand out waiting.

The clerk raised his eyebrows but carefully pulled the ring out anyways, handing it over.

"It's a black diamond, which is why it's so much darker in color."

"Right right…" James was no longer paying the clerk much attention, he was staring into the sparkling diamond.

It was almost like staring straight into Sirius' eyes.

It was perfect.

But for who, was the question the lingered in the back of his mind.

"I'll take it."
