Everyone thinks that the Doctor is always in control: That he's the one who makes the all the decisions.
I mean he has a time machine: He can do whatever he wants right?
He has all of time and space at his finger-tips and has the universe at his command.
No.
He is just a piece in the game.
The great game of creation: Between Order and Chaos.
The constant struggle that has been since the beginning of the universe.
The Doctor is Order's champion; the "king".
A special title for a special pawn, but still a pawn none the less.
The title gives you the impression that he is in control; that he's calling the plays.
But he is just as subject to the orders of the player as the rest of us.
If he were the player then no one would die, but the game would be lost.
Chaos doesn't play fair.
If the king falls you lose the game, and so, Order protects its king at all costs.
Even sacrificing other pieces to save him. He pleads with the universe to take him instead, but his friends are always putting him first: They know how important he is.
Can a piece make a deal with the player?
The Doctor certainly tries.
But has he had any success?
