Here's the prologue to a story I'm thinking about writing. Please leave some reviews to let me know how you guys like it, and if I should continue!
Lucifer had been the King of Cocytus, the kingdom farthest North. It was a frozen wasteland, and nothing could grow there. All of its citizen were starving, but no one sent aid, because they deserved it.
It was a home for fugitives who had escaped the death penalty in the South, but they soon discovered that Cocytus was a fate worse than death. Many of them tried to escape back to the South, but the trip was more difficult without supplies, and most died in the snow.
Lucifer had been the rightful heir to the throne of Terra, the kingdom with the richest soil, but it's citizens had rebelled. Lucifer's father was killed in the rebellion, but his pregnant mother, Abaddon, escaped to the North. Lucifer was born into the pain and suffering of Cocytus, and was raised ruthlessly by Abaddon. Taught from the day of his birth that his only purpose in life was to regain his kingdom.
During King Henry's War, Lucifer first captured Malebolge, the port city, and cut off supplies to the other cities and kingdoms. Next, he took The City of Dis, the city farthest South, which fell easily due to the blockade. Victory was inevitable. Terra was fighting a war on two fronts without access to supplies, and this blinded Lucifer with arrogance.
His hubris caused Lucifer to attack Terra before it had exhausted its reserves, King Henry had enough supplies to maintain his army for three months of battle. When it was clear to Henry that his army could not last much longer, he sent a group of his elite knights; Gabriel, Raphael, Zachariah, Uriel, and Michael, to slay Lucifer and put a stop to the war.
They succeeded, but Zachariah and Uriel were the only ones to survive.
Nearly forty years had passed since the war. King Henry Winchester had passed, leaving the throne to his son, John. Even though John was a toddler during his father's war, he still carried the scars of a man who had seen battle, but his wife, Mary, had very soft features that balanced out his harshness.
John had two sons, Sam and Dean, and a bastard, Adam. Even though Adam was a bastard, he was well respected throughout the kingdom. He was diligent in his studies, and was training under Uriel to become a knight. Sam and Dean were more wayward. Sam was a good student, but he was very disobedient, especially towards his father. He had lost all respect for John after finding out about Adam, though he never resented Adam for their father's infidelity. Dean was very close to his father, and would obey any order, but Dean neglected his teachers and used the time reserved for studying to go to brothels.
Even though it had been forty years since Lucifer's death, many of his followers remained, including his son. Azazel had spent every day of those forty long years plotting in the darkness. He had tried to start a family, but his wife and son had died during a harsh winter, and it increased his bitterness.
Now, everything was beginning to fall into place. At last Azazel would complete his father's work.
Don't forget to tell me what you think! Thanks!
