Being blind in a pre-technologic age can be a hassle. Being a blind librarian in a pre-technologic age can also be a hassle. Being a bind librarian in a pre-technologic dangerous world can really get in the way of things. So I am here to tell you in a very understandable way how to navigate blind. I have also told my transcriber, Fatespeaker, not to add any comments that may make the book twice as good!
Part One: Blindness.
If one day you wonder to yourself, "Why can't I see? Am I Blind?" Don't panic. There are other circumstances where dragons cannot see.
Your eyes are closed: Check to see if your eyes are closed. If they are, open them.
Someone blindfolded you: Someone may have blindfolded you. Take your talons and lift up the blindfold.
The Sun has died: If the sun has died there are much bigger problems to worry about.
If none of these options work, you are blind. Sorry.
Part Two: Finding the Cause
OK. So you are blind. Someone is probably reading this to you like my amazing girlfriend Fatespeaker does for me. How exactly did you get blind? I was blinded by magma flying into my eyes.
Have you gotten severely injured in the facial region recently?
Did someone claw your eyes?
Did a scavenger poke you with their pointy things in the eyes?
Have you been blind since hatching?
Once you have pinpointed the source of the blindness, you can safely panic. Unless you have been blind your whole life. Then panicking for no reason would just be weird.
Part Three: Navigating Blindly.
Walls hurt. Science has proved that. Avoiding walking into walls while blind is hard. Remember to sometimes walk with a talon out in front of you. Be careful though! One false move and you could re-poke your eye. You can also accidentally run into other dragons, or trip over small dragonets and get yelled at by a parent. If you do trip on a small dragonet, make sure it's a MudWing or RainWing because they don't do "parents." As for walking into other dragons, practice apologizing. I once ran into Tsunami one too many times…
Step Four: Finding a Cure.
There is currently no cure for blindness. But Fatespeaker is trying carrots! I think she's getting close to a breakthrough! SHE SAW IT IN A VISION! Although students keep asking me why they keep finding carrots in library scrolls. Fatespeaker just tells them its harvest time. You can read blind though. It's called braille. It allows you to feel bumps with your talons, and understand them as words.
That's just about it! Now all this might change if some "world ending event" happens. But as we all know, the world isn't going to end any time soon. I wish you all the power of wings of fire!
