Title: Just one of those days
Saturday, August 23, 2002 Seattle, Washington 1330 Local Time
Lt. Col. Sarah Mackenzie answered her cell phone in the local JAG Law Library. Normally she would have let the voice mail pick up but upon checking her caller id she saw it was an old friend she hadn't talked to in quite some time and decided she could use the distraction. After receiving a couple of irritated glances she walked out of the library and hoped into her blue mid-size rental car.
She was having a great time chatting with her friend Susan; they were catching up on old times, gossiping, and had made plans for brunch for the weekend since Susan lived in Seattle. Upon pushing the end button on her cell she failed to notice the car in front of her had come to a stand still. In the pouring rain Mac skidded into the car in front of her at a whopping ten miles an hour. 'Oh shit she thought' she prayed that the driver she had hit was ok and not injured. Once they pulled over into a nearby parking lot she got out of her car and surveyed the damage. To Mac's astonishment the other driver's car didn't appear to have ANY damages while her little blue rental suffered the brunt of having what looked like a busted radiator, bumper damage, and the hood was definitely going to need replacement. Being the good officer she is she called the police to notify them. By the time the officer arrived on the scene Mac and the other driver had already exchanged insurance information. The officer was kind enough to call a tow truck for her and waited with her until the tow truck arrived.
The tow truck man was a big man; about 6'3'' and 350lbs with reddish brown closely cropped hair and had a good disposition. In the tow truck they chatted amicably and he did his best to cheer up her up. He knew that an unhappy marine was not something he would want on his hands. The driver took her back to the rental company and even went inside with her to make sure she would be taken care of. Mac was not a happy camper, first the rental agent was a trainee who looked as if he couldn't be more than 18 and second they were un-willing to accept Navy Vouchers. She wondered what kind of military town this was! Realizes there wasn't much more she could do about it after she had spoken with the supervisor the driver offered her a lift back to her hotel. She bid her farewells to the man and wished him congratulations on his wife pregnancy.
Just when she thought she was home free the key to her hotel room didn't work. 'Are the gods playing some sick joke or what?' Mac asked herself. She didn't know but she surely wasn't too thrilled regardless. After calling maintenance she did the inevitable, she called Harm. If once person would be there for her it would be Harm, she could always count on him for support and understanding. To her complete and utter shock Harm thought the situation hilarious. She was so infuriated she hung up on him. Just then her cell chimed and she yelled into the receiver, "Harmon Rabb if you weren't so fucking good in bed I swear I would never talk to you again!" Murphy certainly had something in mind because it certainly wasn't her flyboy, that voice only belonged to one man, "Colonel, please tell me I didn't just hear what I thought I did," Adm. AJ Chegwidden replied.
Did you like it? Did you hate it? Tell me I need reviews!!! Dekkland.
