Here you go, my tiny contribution to the Tomorrowland fandom. It isn't much but I feel like this world has so much to give, it's a shame there isn't more of a fan following.
A/N I guess this is technically Frank/Athena, but no more than in the movie. It's really just Franks thoughts...
"You're a genius Frank Walker." He could remember the day she had said it so clearly; her hair pulled back neatly, the rush of color to his cheeks, her sweet, earnest smile he had come to lo-... It didn't matter though, it was all a lie. Worse than a like because she didn't even understand what she had done wrong. And he sure as hell didn't feel like a genius now.
How had he been so stupid? It all seemed so clear now, everything was falling into place. He'd never seen her eat, never seen her sleep, not really. He thought back to the first time he had met her, at the world's fair. So fascinated by this girl who handed him a pin and gave him the world. Who had believed in him. Could he blame himself for not noticing that as he got older and taller and stronger, she stayed the same, her clothes and hair styles the only real change.
No, he decided, he wouldn't blame himself. She was the one that had tricked him, made him believe things that clearly weren't true. Given him hope when she didn't understand the meaning of the word. No, he thought again, the problem wasn't that he hadn't been looking hard enough, it was that he had been looking too hard. He had been looking for friendship and faith and laughter and lov... Anyways, he had been looking for her soul when all along she had nothing but wires and programming to give.
All he could say was he was glad she told him when she did. Better to smash his heart all at once. His invention, his one major contribution to Tomorrowland, had been a failure of monumental proportions and his life had been a lie. When he left tomorrow he would be leaving behind a society in panic because of what he had created, and a life full of lies. He was taking with him hurt and frustration and anger and despair that hadn't been there when he first came through, crash landing in a jet pack. His heart seized in pain at the memory of that glorious first day, but no, it had all been a lie. Earth might be a darker place but at least it was honest.
