A fiery moment
Chapter one: A short Fuse
It was like walking into hell, flames roared wildly as two shadow figures dived and zipped in between the flames and burning buildings that had once made up the village of Denham. The only thing guiding them was the foot step like patterns of char and ash on the un-scorched ground.
"Dust I am sensing a strong presence ahead be cautious, this one I believe to be more powerful than any beast you have fought before."
"Thanks for that Ahrah… Fidget be ready, this is going to be one hell of a fight."
"Got it Dust… I just hope the people here made it out."
"So do I Fidget."
The trio made their way up the rock face to get up to the upper level of the village… it wasn't good, the air was filled with the horrid smell of burnt fur and flesh, bodies clutching farming tools or weapons were scattered over the area, Dust lifted pulled a ripped sheet of cloth that survived the flames and wrapped it around his nose and mouth, Fidget following suite after ripping off a piece.
"Dust look out!" Ahrah warned as Dust jumped and avoid a massive fireball that was flying towards him.
"Whoa… that was close!" Fidget said wiping some sweat from her forehead
"Couldn't say it any other way Fidget… huh." Dust looked up to see a black silhouetted figure emerging from the smoke of what was once the mayor's long house.
"So… you have arrived… the one who murdered my children…" The figure said with a raspy voice
"Your children? What those monsters… if anything you and they are the murderers" Dust replied as the figure left the smoke cloud, the figure was wearing armor head to toe, in glowed orange from the light of the flames.
"These people had it coming… I only ended the suffering that was to come by you and your kind." The figure said as he clutched his metal fists. "But since you're here… I will destroy you!"
Suddenly flames shot up from around him, creating an Arena of fire. "You will burn… just like everyone before you!" The armored beast charged at Dust and the battle began.
"SWARM… SWARM!" He yelled as he released a barrage of green fireballs from his claws, Dust dodged them, but didn't see them turn around.
"Dust behind you! Use Your Storm!" it was too late as Dust was pelted with the fire catching Dust's cape alight.
"ow… I give him credit… he packs a punch…" Dust got up and stomped the fire on his cape out, he looked up to see the Beast charge up for another Attack "Fidget… projectiles now!"
"On it… Uwah!" Fidget put her palms together and released a burst of energy, Dust readied himself and began to spin Ahrah, as the energy ball hit the blade, it burst into many smaller orbs and began to fly towards the beast at an astounding speed.
As the projectiles made contact, it caused the charge up to overload and explode on him and stunning the beast for a moment.
"Now Dust… Attack while he is recuperating."
Dust wasted no time climbing up to the fire beast's level and charging at him. Within milliseconds both were in the air, Dust delivering blow after blow, half of them just glancing off the armor.
"EHRAAAA!" The beast roared as two columns of fire shot up, consuming both in flames.
"DUST!"
"I'm fine Fidget…" Dust said as the column dispersed, his cloak had splotches of black charring, his fur grey with the ash that covered him."
"How are you still alive?! That normally kills everybody I fight!" The figure yelled in irritation his eyes glowing bright with rage.
"call me lucky then… now who are you and why are you doing this?"
"I am Fuse… and the reason I'm doing this… IS BECAUSE OF YOU!" Fuse jumped down and slammed his fist into the burnt soil; fire erupted around him sending fireballs and burnt rock everywhere. Dust managed to evade and get close and Caught Fuse in the continuous blows of the Dust storm.
"Fidget, give him all you got… don't hold back!" Dust yelled as he began to lose a little control of Ahrah's rapid rotation.
"Got it! TAKE THIS!" Fidget released a flurry of energy bolts, from a distance all it appeared to be was a large ball of light.
"HYAAA!" Dust Yelled as he pulled a finishing combo, sending Fuse flying into an unstable building and causing it to collapse upon him. Minutes passed, the only thing you could hear was Dust and Fidgets heavy Breathing. The sound of wood shifting caught their attention as Fuse Weakly pushed a piece of wall away from him, the leather straps on his armor shredded or broke, his plating chipped or cracked completely.
He began to sway and eventually fell on his back, his raspy breathing was louder than Dust's and Fidgets, around them the fires began to die, eventually the place was no longer alight and it seemed like everything was cooled.
"So… it is done…" Fuse fell onto his knees before Dust, holding his side that was bleeding a sickly greenish blood, "I have been bested by the one who put into this state."
"Wait me? What are you talking about, I didn't even know who you were, and the name Fuse doesn't ring any bells"
"pfft… why would you… you and your general wouldn't bother with the names of us moon-bloods…" fuse coughed and blood drizzled down his neck from under his face plate, "you'd just keep track of our casualty rates and bury our bodies in a collective hole… but your men would be buried individually reparations paid to the families of your fallen."
Fuse fell on to his side and coughed out more blood
"Who is this General?"
"Gaius… that his name… when the life thread beckons… I must answer… Ashes to Ashes." Fuse said before his glowing eyes dimmed
"Dust to Dust" Dust finished as Fuse passed away, his body igniting in blue fire as his spirit went to the life thread. The only thing of Fuse that remained was his faceplate, as Dust picked it up he felt heat emanating from it, suddenly an echo voice spoke.
"take my memento to the girl I was to spare from the flames when I was to Attack Aurora." The voice said before dying away. Dust set the piece of armor down and opened his pack to put the piece inside.
"Something Trouble you Dust?" Ahrah asked the teal mithrarin
"Yeah… who is this Gaius, how did that thing know me… and what is a moon-blood? So many questions and very little answers… If I was able to keep him alive just a little longer."
"That would be unwise Dust… given what you see here, if he was to live any longer he would have killed you and caused unfathomable destruction." Dust was silent and hesitant to respond, Ahrah was right, if Dust was to fall, what couldn't have stopped Fuse from destroying Aurora Village and maybe even more.
"Dust it's starting to get late, we should be getting a move on now; you know how bad monsters are at night." Fidget said pointing at the remnants of a sundial.
"Alright let's get moving… I wonder who this girl is though." Dust through his pack over his shoulders and un-sheathed Ahrah, the three set off two make it out of this highly infested region.
Just as they were about to walk out the gates to Denham when a group of monsters jumped down from above, mostly beasts and imps but threats none the less, Dust was about to attack before Fidget spoke up "Dust use your storm I want to try something."
"Okay Fidget… this better not get us hurt though." Dust begun to spin Ahrah as Fidget charged up her energy bolt a few seconds passed before the white ball became orange with a red core.
Fidget released the burst of energy which were split by the dust storm, instead of shooting to the enemies directly; it flew into the ground under them. Before the monsters could think about reacting a series of fire columns shot up and incinerated them to a crisp.
"Whoa… I didn't know it would do that." Fidget said in surprise, not noticing that her paws were on fire.
"Uh Fidget…"
"What…. WHAAA! PUT IT OUT PUT IT OUT PUT IT OUUUT!" Fidget yelled flying around with incredible speed. Eventually Dust managed to grab Fidget and empty his canteen on her paws. When Fidget shook out of Dust's hold she noticed her paws were fine, and the fur on them still there.
"How'd you manage to that any way?"
"My kind don't just have sixth sense, we also can copy spells with relative ease, I simply examined Fuses ability to create fireballs and combined it with my projectiles."
"This will be most useful; this would allow us greater ranged attack power." Ahrah claimed before they began to move again.
Hours later
The trek down the road was long and boring, not a single monster along It as usual, but not even birds chirped, granted the three never been down this road and didn't know what was in this area. Maybe birds didn't live here, not enough prey.
"Hmm… I'm not too sure about this Dust… something deep down tells me we are being watched…" Fidget said as they crossed over a bridge that was in dis-repair.
"I thought it was only meant for Treasure and ancient keys?"
"it is… this is just my gut feeling… telling me this one." Fidget replied as a shadow jumped out the bushes, Fidget screamed and covered her face.
"Easy there Fidget, it's just a deer." Dust said as Fidget uncovered her eyes and saw the deer being petted by Dust. "at least you didn't ask me to mash the buttons… whatever that means."
"Neither do I… But I believe a higher power that determines our destinies would" Ahrah commented
"I would find it kinda creepy if someone was watching us and controlling our movements with odd tools… heck I would find it creepy just being watched without me knowing." Fidget interjected in her joking tone.
"Would you be scared of it if you did know?"
"No… of Course not."
"Coming from the one scared by a doe…"
"Oh hush." Dust simply laughed and tossed a spare feeble fruit on the ground for the doe before continuing down the road.
Eventually they reached the campsite Dust had left before they entered Abadis forest Region, the hike between Aurora was about a four day journey, the only reason why they got their faster was because the river flowed east from Aurora and were given a small boat they were given after turning in those imp hides and beast spears to Fale.
"I give Fale credit, he makes bad armor… but he makes great boats." Fidget commented as they passed the boat landed on their side of the river.
"Yeah, I agree… even stood up to those rapids, but never again shall we do that… I'd rather watch you eat Gianni's face off versus that." Dust said remembering the ride down to the Abadis basin
"How was I supposed to know there was there was that waterfall… I didn't draw that map, matter of fact I'm lucky you found it… still can't find my compass though."
"And I do apologize for that Fidget but-"
"Yes yes… I know I know… you were summoned by Dust, and had to go to him… at least you could've warned me, before flying off." Fidget replied her ears flipping back to show her irritation.
As Dust listened to the two bicker, he was setting up his tent, they seemed to get louder as Dust hammered the pegs into the soil with a rock. Eventually they stopped arguing, Fidget steaming mad. It was a little past sundown and their fire was lit, Dust was eating some of that mysterious wall chicken, while fidget cooked a few small sausages on a stick.
"I still question how a mason manages to build a brick or stone wall and accidently leaves a fully cooked whole chicken inside… repeatedly" Ahrah said in a tone of irritation glowing an odd hue of orange and red.
"I don't know… the same ones that build stone and or brick walls for castles." Fidget commented before pulling one of the small sausages off the stick and popping it in her mouth.
Ahrah was about to comment but couldn't think of one, allowing both Dust and Fidget to chuckle.
"And on this day… Aharah couldn't come up with come back." Dust joked receiving a fit of laughter from Fidget. Eventually the laughter calmed down and it was just Fidget near the fire, Dust was practicing new moves, one of them he dubbed the Whirlwind blade throw.
"Alright Dust, just like we did, this time proceed with the throw."
Dust readied his footing like he would with the Dust storm, he begun to spin it, as the blade picked up speed Dust changed his footing so he was in a throwing stance, seconds later he released Ahrah, sending the Sacred blade through trees and eventually returning to Dust, who caught it with grace.
"I say it's a keepe-…" behind them, five trees came crashing down, and those trees had trunks that were rock hard and at least around. "Never mind… lets vow that we never do that again."
"I can agree to that."
Fidget tried to contain herself from gawking at the sheer power of this dismissed move, suddenly like a rock sent flying by a blomb, she felt a tingle.
"What the?" Fidget said quietly as she squished her legs together from the tingle, eventually the tingle grew stronger, she looked over to Dust who was trying to practice his combos on a much thicker tree, Fidget flew out of Dust's point of view, she sat down on a rock and spread her legs, the smell was strong increasing Fidget's worries even more, she slid her paw down into the thinner fur between her legs and pulled it up, a clear sweetly scented juice covered her paw.
"Uh oh…" Fidget wiped her paw off and pulled her legs up to herself. "How am I in season so early? It's every five weeks… I have been keeping track, it's only been three… this is going to be an interesting seven days…" Fidget said as she sat there thinking of a plan to fix this.
Alright guys, the heat is on in kitch- never mind… either way the heat is on and Fidget has some problems, can you guess what happened that made her come into heat so early?... this is just a retype, I will post the other chapters in time so be patient my fellow Dust fans. Ciao
