When words are not said, but meanings are understood, promises are made.
Nick promises Jenny
He watches her silently for a few minutes, wondering why there's an ache in his heart.
He knows he can't forget Claudia, but he's slowly moving on.
Jenny's with child.
His child.
That night months ago, Nick saw no one but Jenny, as Claudia faded from his memory.
He's going to be a father - something Helen wouldn't give him - he's going to make a future with Jenny and the baby. Their baby.
He promised her the moment she shuffled out of his bathroom, ashen faced with test in hand.
He places a kiss on her cheek.
I promise.
Connor promises Abby
She angrily snatches the remote from his limp hand.
'Hey!'
'All afternoon it's been nothing but blooming star trek! I want something we can both watch.' Abby kicks his feet off of the coffee table so she can pass, and slumps onto the sofa.
She channel hops until she finds a film she adores.
Connor moans, 'Love Actually?'
'Why not?'
He shrugs, unsure of why he doesn't want to watch it. Funnily enough he's never seen the film, 'Dunno.'
Connor ends up liking the movie greatly, and he promises never to disagree with Abby's tastes in film again.
I promise.
Nick promises Stephen
The flowers lain on the dirt were fresh, Jenny had picked them out especially for him to put on Stephen's grave.
Nick stares around for a few minutes, trying to avoid the sight of his friend six feet under.
Eventually he can't ignore it anymore.
Why? Why save me? I'm not worth saving.
He heaves a sigh. For the first few days after his death, it seemed like the world was collapsing in on him.
And it's all Helen fault.
The bitterness rising inside him was enough to make him cry.
I will avenge you, my dear friend.
I promise.
Nick resloves with Jenny
There's blood staining the once white linen sheets.
But even though she's exhausted, Nick can't deny the proud smile adorning Jenny's soft lips.
He gazes down at the babe cradled safely in his loving arms.
My angel, my life, your daddy's little girl and your mother's double.
Nick made the right choice, he knows he did.
He loves Jenny, and he adores their beautiful baby girl.
Jenny watches him rock the newborn; she helped heal the wounds Claudia Brown left behind, she helped him forget Helen.
He loves no one but Jenny.
And their daughter.
They name her Lois Cutter.
Connor resloves with Abby
For once Connor decides to take Abby out, to the cinema.
At first she thinks it's because there's some nerdy film being released.
She doesn't believe him when he hands her the film guide and tells her to pick a movie she wants to see.
Abby hesitates, wondering what it's all about. Finally she points to particualar one.
'Okay, I'll book the tickets.'
The look of awe on Connor's face half way through gives Abby a heartwarming feeling. She places a quick kiss on his cheek.
'Thanks Connor.'
'You're welcome.' He seems dumbstruck.
Well, Twilight did have Vampires in it.
Nick resloves for Stephen
The look on Helen's face makes him want to laugh.
'What?'
Nick smirks darkly, 'You heard.'
'I don't believe it,' she hissed, her hand shooting across the table and grabbing his, 'we're still married.'
'Technically you're dead. So no, we're not.'
'And you think Jenny is a more deserving wife? What about Claudia?' There's a hint of satisfaction in her voice as he stiffens.
He snatches his hand away as though he'd been burnt.
'Yes.'
Helen's eyes narrow.
She's captured, never to escape.
The door opens and Jenny walks in, babe in arms.
Helen looks, her face contorted in horror.
