A/N - I like this poem a lot because of the little 'but', 'how', 'if only' thing I did in every
section. I hope you like it to. This poem is about Zelda wondering if she did the right thing with
the ocarina, with Link.
Choices for the Child
I hold the key to time, it sits upon my hands
waiting: waiting for the notes that I can give.
But . . .
Shall this little folly be the downfall of my land?
Or shall it bring the Hero, to defeat the King of Sand?
I don't know.
I ask you for your help and guidance. Farore. Nayru. Din.
Help me from my destined plight of sin.
If only . . .
Could time stand still if it's pierced with cold?
Am I a cowardice? I have never been bold.
I don't know.
The days pass by, my life empty as a bowl.
I have no spirit left; I shiver with my soul.
How . . .
How can you ask this of me, of anyone?
Will I be ready with the dawning of the sun?
I don't know.
I walk slowly, ready to preserve my memories.
I put the Ocarina to my lips, to release my choice confined.
Did I . . .
Have I made the right choice, for Link to carry through?
We are both stranded on the island called Fate, just us two.
Now we will know.
