Written for the setting challenge. Set in ancient roman times, with Remus being the twin of Romulus.

"Really Romulus, I don't see why we can't both rule."

Romulus scowled, looking at his twin brother as they marched across the fields.

"Because, Remus! The gods have prophesied that one of us is to create the city and rule, the other to stand by his side and make the laws. And I have no intention of standing by while you create Reme, and help you make laws." Romulus sneered at this last thought.

Remus rolled his eyes, pushing his brown hair out of his face. "so then what are we to do? How will we know which of us the gods prefer?"

"We shall take the auspices. Pick a hill, and report back what you see. The one who has the most fortunate sightings is the favoured."

Remus nodded. "Fair sounding, brother. I wish you luck."

Romulus nodded in thanks, and turned to climb Palentine Hill. Remus wandered in the opposite direction, and found himself at the top of Aventine hill. He sat down, and took to watching the sky. It was not long before he spotted a flock of six vultures.

"Surely this is a sign I am in the gods favour!" Remus exclaimed, jumping up. He would go break the news to Romulus. He would be extremely unhappy…

"get your hands off me!"

Remus looked to the other side of the hill- three big, burly men had hold of a young girl, who had, strangely, bright pink hair.

"get your filthy hands off me!" she yelled. One of the men picked her off the ground, and threw her over his shoulder.

Remus ran down the hill. "Stop that! Let her go!"

"what are you going to do if I don't?" the big man asked threateningly. Remus smiled.

"oh. Not much I suppose, ill just call a pack of wolves to tear you to pieces, and leave your innards for the crows to pluck." He said casually. The man laughed.

"That's an empty threat. Where is this pack of rabid wolves you wish to tear me apart, then?"

Remus whistled.

There was an answering howl from the nearby woods. The big man paled as a pack of wolves padded to the edge, growling in the shadows.

"They don't really like being called rabid." Remus said grinning.

The big man swallowed, putting the girl down. "Ok… take her!" he ran off with his companions, leaving the girl sprawled on the ground.

Remus offered her a hand. She took it, smiling.

"Thank you."

Remus couldn't help but notice that her eyes were purple.

"I'm Remus." He introduced himself.

"Nymphadora Tonks. Call me Tonks. Every one does."

"That's an unusual name."

She smiled cheekily. "So is Remus."

He grinned. "Will you walk with me? I have to meet my brother, and he is over on Palentine hill."

"I'd like that. You saved me from some rather nasty happenings. Those slave traders were quite intent on taking me."

"Well they're not going to get you." Remus vowed. "I'll make sure of it." She blushed.

Together they climbed the hill, only to be met half way down my Romulus.

"Brother! What did you see?"

"I saw a most fortuitous sign! Six vultures!" Remus told his brother.

Romulus smirked. "Almost as fortuitous as my sighting of twelve vultures, brother. I guess the gods favour me twice as much as you."

Remus shrugged, looking at Tonks. Ruling didn't seem so important anymore.

"Rule then, brother. Create Rome, and I shall assist. But I believe the gods have favoured me in other ways." He smiled cheekily at Tonks, who blushed, looking at her feet.

Romulus laughed. "Fortunate indeed, brother! You must tell me how you came upon one such as this… a Nymph, perhaps?"

Tonks blushed deeper, grinning, as Remus laughed with his brother. "Only my mother calls me Nymph."
