Thanks for this story go to sdcheesehead for betaing and Carrie01 for not letting me give up on this idea and getting me on the right track. Lyrics belong to Rascal Flatts. I don't own anything.

Clark put the last box of clothes on top of his bed. He stopped his work for a moment to look around. He had spent much of the day unpacking his things. Yeah, he could have been done in a matter of seconds, but today he wanted to take his time. Everything seemed to be moving quite fast lately that he was enjoying taking things slow for a change.

In a span of a week he had the job he'd never thought he'd have, working with someone he didn't think he'd see again and was now standing in his brand new apartment unpacking his clothes. But, he did need a change. Thanks, to Chloe and the brand new editor at the Daily Planet he had a job.

Chloe had told him that he needed to get off the farm and not stayed holed up by himself. He had to finally agree with her on that. As much as he loved the farm, it had become quite lonely with everyone gone. When an opening had become available Chloe had, with just a little convincing of Mr. White, Clark a job. He had talked with his mom and they had decided to lease out the farm to Ben Hubbard for now, until his mom decided to come back to the farm. As much as his mom enjoyed being a Senator they both wanted to keep the farm in the family.

She had taken some time off to help him find a place to stay and get things all unpacked for him. Martha was now getting some groceries. She said that she could not leave until she knew that his cupboards were full and he had plenty to eat.

Clark picked up the first item out of the box and saw a small brown folder lying neatly on one of his favorite plaid shirts. Clark sat down on the bed next to the box careful to not to tip it over. He gently opened up the envelope to reveal a CD and a letter in his mom's neat script. There was a note on the CD that read "I heard this song recently and I thought it said what I wanted to tell you perfectly."

Clark walked over to a nearby table and plugged in his CD player before putting the CD into play.

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow and

each road leads you where you want to go

and you're faced with the choice and you have to choose

I hope you choose the one that means the most to you

He then opened the letter and began to read it as he sat back down on the bed.

Clark,

I am so happy for you. You are about to start on the next journey of your life. I know how much the farm has meant to you and I know that you were trying to keep it up for your father. But, your father and I both knew that you were meant for bigger things than being a farmer. Now, you have a whole new world of opportunity before you.

And if one door opens to another door closed

I hope you keep on walking 'til you find a window

If it's cold outside show the world the warmth of your smile

I know that you've had to face situations and deal with things that no one else will ever really truly understand. I know it pains you not to be able to share yourself completely with people you care about. A day will come when you will.

I hope you never look back but you never forget

All the ones you love you in the place you left

I hope you always forgive and you never regret

Always remember that I am here for you, whenever you need me. No matter what happens, I'm here. Above all, I want to say:

My wish for you

Is that this life becomes all that you want it to

Your dreams stay big and your worries stay small

You never have to carry more than you can hold.

Love, Mom
