Prologue

To the outside world I seem like an ordinary thirty something woman. A doctor with my twenty something daughter, who when we are together we cause heads to turn by the closeness in our ages. Them firstly believing that I am her sibling, her older sister and then the looks of disgust when I am revealed to be her mother.

The thing is my life is not a crystal clear and simple as it seem s to an outside observer. The life I lead is impossible to accurately describe, the things I have seen, the times I have lived through would be unbelievable to most people.

But the first thing I should say is that I am not the thirty something woman that people actually see. I am in fact 157 years old. And these words that I am writing here tell the story of my life.

A life which some days I can scarcely believe myself.
