"Death note? What a rip." Joey whispered to himself as he picked up the strange black notebook from the dirt-ridden ground. He stared at its hard, absorbing cover as if it drew him in, pleading with him to use it. He opened it up and started to read the rules.
"The person whose name is written in the notebook will die? Oh please, I'll bet this is Bakura's idea of a joke." He scoffed aloud. With that he ran inside Domino high school to find Bakura. He started to ponder the idea of whether he should try it when the bell for lessons rang. He darted in the other direction toward his lesson, hoping he had a cover teacher who was nice to latecomers.
He burst through the door with a mighty THUD!
"Sorry I'm late sir, I got held up." He panted as he dragged his legs to his desk.
"Joey Wheeler! This is the third time today! Why are you so late! You will be staying behind with me for an hour!" the teacher screamed. Joey sat down as he thought to himself 'maybe I should try the notebook out on him.' His dark thoughts were disturbed by the person sitting next to his.
"Terribly sorry to bother you Joey, but do you have a spare ruler by any chance?" it was Bakura.
"Bakura, I been lookin' for you." Joey said as he threw his body into the chair and slumped down into his stupor.
"Really? Whatever for Joey?"
"Well, I found this book outside and I was wonderin' if you know anythin' 'bout it 'cos your into all this weird gibberish." Joey produced the black book from his bag and showed it to Bakura.
"Wow…this would be amazing if it were true." Bakura reeled at the pages as he read the rules over and over. "But I don't think it's real, just some joke a kid thought would be funny. I'll get rid of it."
"No, no I think I'll keep it, you know? Just gonna' see how far some kids go with this freaky stuff." And with that Joey snatched the notebook back from Bakura's tight grasp.
After lesson Joey stayed behind as Bakura walked off into the distance and whispered over his shoulder.
"Rem, how on earth did Joey end up with a note book as well?"
