Until the End
Icy rain pattered the cold cobbled stoned streets of Konoha as I ran home as swiftly as possible, an old newspaper covering my abnormally long jet black hair, and the
groceries completely soaked. I guess I had taken it for granted that the weather had been so clear outside the past few days that I had completely forgotten that
Sakura had said that it was going to rain this afternoon. I finally got to the front gate of my home when I looked down and saw my younger brother Konohamaru's
shoes. I sighed, knowing that he probably would start bickering about how I was late getting home and that he should have just gone to Grandpa Sarutobi and asked
for dinner instead of waiting for me to get home. As I tried to tune him out as chopped the onions and potatoes for tonight's stew , I thought about the Chunin exams
tomorrow and a chill ran down my spine. Ever since I had gotten put on Kakashi- sensei's team, I had dedicated all of my spare time to training as much as possible.
I had always been smart, but I was always right behind Sasuke and it drove me insane. He's always outshined me whenever school was involved, and I guess that's
just his way of life. Naruto was the funny one, but I could always count on him if I ever needed someone to talk to. Sakura is one of my very close friends that I hold
close to my heart. She can be very loud and self absorbed sometimes, but I know that she only does these things to impress Sasuke. Sasuke was probably the most
popular boy at the ninja academy. Every girl would swoon at the sight of him when he would walk by. Boy was he talented! Whenever I would learned a jutsu, he
would learn and perfect the same jutsu at the twice the speed and accuracy and he would get the credit for it! That would make me so angry, but it would only make
me try harder, which only made me a better ninja. I guess having a rival only gives you more experience. I started to smell smoke, and Konohamaru was fanning the
pot with the scalded stew and the burnt potatoes. I grabbed a pitcher of cold water and threw it on the inflamed pot and it settled down. I sunk to the floor while
Konohamaru sprayed the bottom of the pot with water. "What the heck were you thinking! You could've burnt the house down!" I sighed and rose, taking the pot
from him and scrubbing it with a soapy sponge. This is going to be a LONG night.
