There was one problem with that, just one really. He would have to give in if she was captured and trapped on one of those lab tables. And he would have to keep the despair away from the front of his attention. But his problem was not voicing his goodbyes. That was what he couldn't live with. After that he wouldn't be able to see her again after that.

He had no out for this, what in hell would be the out?! There was no killing the Founder, he dare not raise the living hope that Stephen and his friends would finally get their act together and stand a chance against the son of a bitch, he couldn't even finish the sentence in his mind or the Founder would realize. In all honesty that didn't scare him the most: It was the fact that he and Morgan now had no chance for a preferred ending. She would be safe for long enough since John accepted her into their secret refuge, and as the Founder had no death in the play yet he couldn't see her again or he'd be tracked or something would go wrong like the scandals always do. If he becomes lucky he'd be kidnapped by them again and end up with her visiting.

But it was unnecessary, their "I love you"s and goodbyes are said in the recent night hours. Regardless of his inevitable desperation to see her in future time he could not let it mar his acts, they had to be in official past.

He closed his eyes to resist further indulgence in the matter, his hand was already reaching for his gun on the nightstand.
