Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I really should be posting this tomorrow, but I don't know if ther will be time so I'm posting it now. About an hour ago I was really mad at my sister for getting an iPhone 4. I KNOW that she broke her old phone on purpose. But you guys don't need to know about my issues.
Anyway, Will is about 11 in my mind, but it really doesn't matter so you guys can just imagine whatever you think fits best. I you like, REVEIW, if you don't like, tell me what I did wrong by Reveiwing. I have a very sharp knife in my kitchen drawer and I do not want to have to use it!
Will ran through the dark woods, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He didn't dare to pause for breath, for the thing chasing him might catch him. His only thought, which filled his entire mind, was to get out of the woods. If he could just get back to the ward, he would be glad to see even Horace.
Will could hear the footsteps behind him; the thing was fast, despite being rather portly. He tried to speed up his pace, but he was at his maximum pace. His legs faltered for a second, and he let out a gasp as he fell to the ground. He braced himself to feel teeth bite into him, but the pain never came. In a second, he was up, looking around for the monster.
He didn't see anything behind him, though. For a confused second, Will was still, searching for even a trace of the creature. He didn't see anything but bushes, flowers, and trees, all normal things that one would expect to see in woods. He cautiously turned around, only to see the thing, ulluminated by the moon, staring at him from farther up the trail.
It let out a sort of mangled laugh, and Will nearly fell over in fear. Then the thing started running toward him through the brush. Will turned and started running the other way, as fast as he possibly could. In just a few seconds he was soaked with sweat.
He stumbled over a root, but caught himself just in time. The thing was almost on him, though. He could nearly feel breath on his neck, and the footsteps were louder than ever. Also, Will was exhausted. The chase could only go on for a few more minutes.
Will knew that he couldn't keep going. He tried to slow down, but he could feel the creature right behind him. He srged forward, and for a second, he felt hopefull that he could get away. Then he tripped.
He felt a surge of terror take hold of him as he fell. His mind filled with gruesome images of the monster tearing him apart. He tried to prepare himself, but found it impossible. He tried to accept the inevitable.
Then, he heard a loud squawk pierce the silent night air, followed by a muffled thump. Will slowly got up and turned around, expecting to see some hideous monster laying on the forest floor.
To his surprise, all that lay in the leaves was a fairly small, fat turkey with an arrow sticking out of it's neck. He felt a surge of embarrasment. He slowly picked up the turkey, deciding to take it back to the ward.
It wasn't until he got back that he realized he hadn't seen his "savior".
He left the turkey in the kitchen and gratefully lay in his bed. He was asleep in seconds.
The next morning, Will didn't tell Horace, George, Jenny, or even Alyss of the chase the previous evening. When questioned, he said that he had caught it using his longbow. Luckily for him, the subject was quickly dropped.
I hope you all liked it. I'm trying to keep this short so remember to reveiw, reveiw, REVEIW!
