A/N: Ever think about what could happen if Ed and Al stayed on the tracks? I see this in some openings and endings of the anime, and I wonder... Enjoy, and please review!
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Sighing, he closed the silver pocket watch in his hand, and looked up at the sky to dramatize his determination. I am going to get Al's body back... No matter what!
Ed glanced at the suit of armor standing beside him. Strangely, Al had walked down the railroad tracks a few steps ahead of him, and had his body leaned in, as if he was trying to get a better look of what was ahead.
"...Al? What's wrong?"
A muffled sound of shock escaped the armored boy's body, and he was covered from head to toe in anime sweat drops.
"B-Brother..."
"What is it? Alphonse, what's wrong?"
Chooo! Chooo! The two of them gasped.
No... was that—
"...A TRAIN! RUN, BROTHER! FLEE!"
Screaming, Ed entered panic mode and began to rubin the direction of the train, causing Al to grab on to his sleeve and yank him roughly around.
"Wrong way, you idiot!"
"Hey! Don't call your big brother an 'idiot', Tin Can!"
Al wanted to snort but he lacked the nose to do so.
The two, running side by side in desperate hurry couldn't help but think how they got into this situation in the first place. The train was just behind them, and apparently seemed to be speeding up rather than slowing down. Just who was the driver...?
The reader here may be thinking why they didn't just step off of the track instead of running and screaming like maniacs.
There is no clear answer to that.
Elric Brothers = Nuff said.
"See? I told you we shouldn't have been traveling on railroad tracks!" Al yelled, turning to look at the shrieking shrimp next to him. His older brother shot him an annoyed glare and waved his arms frantically.
"SHUDDUP, AL! JUST KEEP RUNNING!"
Keep running...?
Of course!
Soon after the miraculous realization had popped into the suit of armor, the train had almost ran them over and Al finally pulled both Ed and himself off of the tracks, landing none too gracefully in a pile of dirt.
The reader here can now be pleased.
"Damn... I'm never walking on that death trap again..." Ed muttered, gasping for oxygen to fill his tiny lungs. "I feel like this should be blamed on Mustang... Stupid Colonel!"
"Um, Brother? ...I don't think the colonel had anything to do with this..."
"You're right, Al!"
Al yearned to smile.
"It's your fault! Told you so! If it wasn't for me, you would be a giant pile of metal scraps right now! You need to watch where you're going, little bro! I can't save your ass all of the time, you know..."
The yearning to smile left as quickly as it came.
Beside him, a sighing Al wanted nothing more than to push the blonde back on the tracks and run.
Oh, Brother...
When was the next train scheduled to come?
