Prologue

31st December 2004 23:55

The beautiful night sky stretched out above the hundreds of couples in the courtyard of the famous Millennium Wonder Hotel. The dance floor was buzzing with people and everyone's eyes were focused on the rather large clock. A man with a microphone stepped up on to the stage, collapsible and built especially for this moment. He tapped the microphone to make sure it was working. Then he spoke.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the clock, as you are most probably aware, says the time is five to midnight." A wave of excitement spread through the crowd. "In four minutes time, we will begin the New Year Countdown. Until then, we ask you to enjoy the night and get ready for the fireworks."

Ginny turned to Harry. "You ready to watch the fireworks Harry?"

"Oh yes, I love the Millennium Wonder's fireworks. Last year they were amazing."

"Three minutes to countdown."

Harry and Ginny's eyes met.

"Two minutes."

He put his arm around her neck.

"One."

A shooting star crossed the sky. The crowd oohed and aahed in delight. Harry took a deep breath and wished that he would always, forever be with Ginny.

"59…58…57…56…55…54…"

"I love you." Harry said dreamily to Ginny, gazing up at the star filled sky.

"41…40…39…38…"

"Love you too Harry."

"20…19…18…17…16…15…"

Their lips were centimeters away from each other.

"5…4…3…2…1…Happy New Year!"

As Harry and Ginny's lips met Harry knew, as he did every New Year, that he and Ginny were destined to be together. They would never be separated again. And Voldemort would never, ever, ruin their lives again.
