Because a fourth year dance should never cause this much trouble. Especially for cocky, confident James Sirius. He could have literally any girl he wants- even the mysterious older ones.
But all his chocolate eyes could focus on is his twirling, swirling, whirling cousin Dominique and why aren't his eyes on someone else yet. She's the center of attention, dancing to every song, every eye on her constantly moving body.
And now she's dancing with every cousin, oh god, twirling with Lily and Lucy and why wasn't he feeling anything for the two other Slytherins and only Dominique? She starts grabbing Fred's hand, a twirl and dip, before she lets his hand go and grabs Louis's, and all James wants to do is disappear into thin air.
And her delicate feet start dancing towards him and Albus. James's eyes rush back and forth between the door and his beautiful cousin. She comes closer, grabs Albus's hands and they spin before she lets go, and oh god please no, grabs James's hands. The pairs of brown and blue meet, he twirls and dips her. He cracks a smile, then starts to get the rhythm before her delicate hand lets go and she twirls to Hugo.
And he's just standing there probably looking like an arse, thinking every eye is on him. And goddamnit, why is he still staring at her?
