They're a little angry,
(a little sad)
A little confused,
And a whole lot mad
They don't yet understand,
The rules of this game,
But the Capitol's got the whip,
So they cower in shame
Because the battle's been won,
(and not by their side)
The Districts are naught but a scratch,
On the Capitol's hide
It's the first Hunger Games,
And they can't comprehend,
Those 23 children,
Are meeting their end
And on the first day,
When it plays live,
It's a horror to see,
What kids'll do to survive
There's a gruelling massacre,
A bloodbath, for sure,
So that's what they call it,
On account of the gore
There's torture, there's agony,
Those poor children cry,
There's starvation and murder,
Till most of 'em die
It's required viewing, you know,
They've all got to watch,
As their youth pay the price,
For the rebellion they lost
They watch as they're killed,
Their guts stain the ground,
As a bright, bloody red,
Soaks into the brown
It just keeps on going,
As they look on in sorrow,
The tributes' poor families,
Weeping in horror
Until there's one left,
One lone, shattered child,
She's covered in blood,
(like a beast of the wild)
"Ladies and Gentlemen!
Gather around,
Introducing our victor,"
(she's a little unsound)
They pretty her up,
And scrub off the red,
(but they can't hide,
that she's walking dead)
Even years later,
Once they've all seen her,
They agree that she never,
Left that arena
Some of them vow,
To make the Capitol pay,
But they don't hold the whip,
And they won't get their way
Because it's the first Hunger Games,
(and they're here to stay)
Until she comes, and she,
Makes the Capitol pay.
Fin.
