Yusnaan, city of pleasure and to most, the very metaphor of revelry.
The grand palace was rife with partiers and celebrations, and from there it was also where those who would threaten order and balance tended to hide often in plain sight.
So, with the threat of the peace in their minds, the Goddess sent in her guardians to deal with the situation.
Even with all the partying happening around him, Caius stood like a statue in the shadows in a corner of the ballroom's second floor, away from prying eyes. The festivities were appealing to the eyes, not to mention those who saw them as an escape from the boredom of everyday life, but for Caius he saw it as a ways to forget about the hardships of life itself. He himself wouldn't partake in the fun until the job was done, however.
Of course, the mission itself would not even happen if his partner didn't finish getting ready.
"Lightning...you almost done?"
Next to Caius was a door, a small room where Lightning had gone in to change her outfit. No use on infiltrating a potential threat if they stood out. Lightning wouldn't have any of it though. She was stubborn and refused to budge. Mostly because of the reason that she was the one to do the infiltrating, and that meant dressing up for the part.
He heard her on the other side of the door, "I really don't like this."
"What? Being forced to do the silent half of the mission? Or is it that you don't enjoy this sort of thing?"
She opened the door and stepped out, and for a moment Caius could only smile. "No. I do not like this outfit. Why did that moogle think 'this' would be appropriate!?"
The dress she was fuming over was a dress colored in a deep maroon or mauve, decorated with flowers colored the same, and the skirts went down to just above her ankles but that wasn't the most problematic part of the outfit. The most revealing was the V-shaped cut that was wide and went all the way to her navel, the wide end just covered the side of her breasts. Jewelry covered her bosom and her arms were bare save for the dark purple ribbon she wore on both her wrists. Her hair remained in the ponytail she was used to having.
Again, Caius could only smile though out of respect for his colleague he tried to hide it. "You're the one who thought I'd stand out in the crowd, so it was only natural that you'd be the one to be in the ballroom floor while I did surveillance from here."
Being used to being the one in charge, Lightning was now cursing herself for being such a fool. Her only response was to hit Caius' shoulder with her closed fist. It didn't even make him flinch, and instead Lightning felt like she had punched a brick wall. She held her hand against her chest. "What a pain..."
"If it makes you feel better, I think you look rather fetching."
Lightning sighed, though she appreciated the fact that he tried to make her feel better. "Let's go and get this over with."
Looking down at the crowd, which was drenched in the neon colored lights flashing over their heads, Caius' mind tried to regain focus of his objective, "Very well then. We should be on our way."
"I'll try and stay in your line of sight on the big floor, but if something happens try and get down to me," she said, taking her first step, and nearly tripping on it as she had to take a crash course on walking in high heels. "Damn things." She ended up getting it after a few more steps, but she had to be slow. This was going to be a very long night.
