STAR WARS: SORROW OF THE FORCE
Author: digoutyoursoul
As Obi-Wan leaves young Luke to the goodwill of the Lars family, the Jedi Master is alone on the sand filled planet of Tatooine, his mind trying to focus on protecting Skywalker yet his heart has yet to recover. As Kenobi settles into his new home along the Dune Sea, memories not long passed begin to dominate his thoughts, the loss of a friend, a dear friend who is in his own heart, was his brother.
One evening, as his eyes follow the twin suns fall, images of the past fill his thoughts: the death of Padme, the Chancellor smiling, Anakin fighting in the Clone Wars. In his small, basic retreat, he searches through a box full of robes, underneath lies the lightsaber of Anakin Skywalker, he strokes it softly, then puts it back, not to be seen again until a new member of the Skywalker family would take the mantle years later.
Kenobi's early days on Tatooine ended with sleepless nights, a soul of conflict between guilt and justice, questioning his actions from the past, was he too harsh on Anakin Skywalker as a mentor? Was Skywalker blameless in his fall to the Dark Side? Did the young man's insecurities due to the loss of his mother be the real downfall? As each night passed, more questions than answers would cloud the Jedi Master's thoughts. Usually calm and composed, Kenobi would try and ease his pain by visiting the Lars family when possible. On one occassion, Kenobi watched as young Luke gave him a warmhearted smile whilst in the arms of Beru Lars. Kenobi smiled back but his mind saw a different woman holding Skywalker, Padme Amidala and nothing would ever change that.
The Jedi's undisclosed visit to Naboo, ending in a journey to Amidala's tomb, gave him a chance to say goodbye to Luke's mother on his own accord. A beautiful, dimly lit room surrounds a marble crafted coffin. Kenobi left a single Rominaria flower then returned to his homstead.
As the months went by, Obi-Wan began his training at the request of Master Yoda, to learn how to communicate with those who have passed. Qui-Gon, his mentor, was a soothing presence to Kenobi, trying to reassure him the fall of Anakin to Darth Vader was not of his doing. Qui-Gon told Kenobi, Anakin had his own path to lead and chose wrong, choosing the way of the Sith instead of trusting his feelings with his close friend. This calmed Kenobi, somewhat, his training helping him become relaxed and focused once more, keeping a watchful mind on the boy who's life would change forever the day two droids would fall from the sky.
