Chapter 1 – Running
It was night and the light of a flickering halogen lamp was painting shadows against the wall of a room that looked like a mixture of a prison cell and a hospital room. A young woman with short brown hair was sitting next to a hospital bed holding the hand of a skinny blonde girl that almost disappeared in the large cushions.
"I want to go away from here Eden." she whispered, a tear rolling down her cheek. "I know Elle, I'm working on it." Eden said and squeezed her hand. "I can't believe he started testing on you again. What else could he possibly find out that he didn't when you were little?"
"Don't ask me." she said quietly. "But you know what the worst part is? I remember now. Everything they did to me as a child. Can't get the pictures out of my head." Eden kissed Elle's hand and then reached over to wipe the tears from her face.
"I wish there was something I could do."
"Just make sure we get out of here as soon as possible," and with a week smile she whispered, "and stay here tonight, please."
Eden smiled back at her, got up and crawled into bed behind her. She wrapped her arms around Elle and whispered into her ear,
"We'll be out of here in no time I promise. I won't let him hurt you again."
Elle snuggled up closer into Eden's arms and like that they drifted off to sleep.
A few nights later Elle was waken up by Eden softly shaking her shoulder.
"Elle," she whispered, "wake up, we have to go."
"Go? Where? What are you talking about?" asked Elle confused, still very sleepy. Then it suddenly became clear to her.
"Were leaving tonight? But how did you..."
"I have no time to explain this in detail right now. Just so much; I persuaded your father to visit Mr Bennett tonight. I have no idea when he is going to be back. This guy named Hiro is waiting outside the room. He has the ability to teleport us out of here. Now come on, hurry."
Elle climbed out of the bed as quick as possible. She was still limping on her left foot for she had not yet fully recovered from her injuries. Eden handed her a few clothes to put on and two minutes later they stepped outside the room. Eden had to hold up Elle so she would not fall.
"There you are. Let's get you out of here." Hiro said and smiled at them.
"Thank you so much for doing this." said Elle.
"A hero must do what a hero must do. Rescuing you pretty ladies is an honour for me." And with that he grabbed their hands and they disappeared.
