First Kill

"It was clean."

Will just sat there staring at the floor

A few hours earlier

It was Wills first time on the Black Pearl with Jack as Captain. He seemed to forget that he was with a bunch of pirates because before he knew it they were raiding another pirate ship.

Before they started fighting Jack yelled out, "You know the drill!" Before Jack went over to the ship he told Will, "You don't have to do this. You can go to my cabin."

"No I'll be fine." came Will's hesitant reply.

Jack nodded. "We don't kill unless its inescapable." And then he was gone.

The battle was soon in full swing. Will could see Jack fighting off the other captain.

Will then saw a pirate come after him. Before he knew it they were fighting sword to sword. They guy was good. He was giving Will a run for his money. The pirate got the upper hand and knocked Will over. He was about to kill Will when Will brought his sword up to the others heart.

The pirate stopped and fell backwards dead.

The pirate captain was pretty good. He wasn't good enough for Jack though. Jack got the sword out of the pirate's hand. He was about to say something when the other captain pulled out his pistol.

"Surrender." He demanded.

"Why don't you just put that down. We could make this a fair fight."

"No, surrender." He demanded again.

"No."

Before the shot rang out Jack plunged his sword into his opponent's heart.

"Sorry mate." Jack said with regret in his eyes. He never liked this part. It always hurt.

He then turned to look at what was going on. The Pearls crew was winning. Once the other crew saw there captain fall they all stopped.

Jack then saw Will in the distance. A pirate was on top of him ready to kill. Jack started over, but then saw Will use his sword. Jack's face fell. He knew this was Will's first real kill. He felt for the boy and knew this was going to be hard on him.

"It was clean." Jack said again

Jack had brought Will into his cabin and gave him some water.

"I know it's hard, but you had no choice. He would h…"

"Does it get easier?" Will interrupted.

"I wouldn't say easier, I would say you get used to it. You don't have to worry about that though. Your gonna go back home to your lass. Right?"

"I guess. I love the water though. I want to be in both places."

"Well I can't make the decision for you. Just know that there's always a place for you on the Pearl. Elizabeth too." Jack said with a smile.

"How do you get over it?"

Jack thought for a moment. "I honestly don't know. I just try not to think about it. It's a hard thing to take someone's life. Just remember, you didn't give him a slow death…it was over before he hit the ground."

"Thanks Jack."

"No problem, lad."
