Composer's Block

By Katie

Pairing: Zelsi

Rating: K+

A/N: Angie (Regina Bianca del Mare Azzuro) recommended it, so I gave it a try. It was really difficult, since I couldn't think of anything good to write! But, here it is, and there's nothing more I can do.

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Can I own Zelsi? I think I'm the first one here to write a fic about them, so I think I'm entitled to own them! And since I own them, shouldn't I sue Kenny Ortega and Bill Borden and whoever else for ownership of High School Musical? Me and my crazy dreams again. Hehe.

Block

Kelsi Nielson sat at the piano, humming "Breaking Free". What was her motivation for this musical? The spring musical was about a girl whose crush was in love with one of her best friends. Kelsi couldn't relate...most days.

Jason had just dumped her for some cheerleader named Britni. Shallow, much? But it hadn't really effected her much. She had her eye on someone else. Who was definitely NOT her best friend's boyfriend! Well. You know...maybe he was.

She couldn't think of anything to write. "Kelsi!" a girl cried shrilly. "What, Sharpay?" she returned, banging on a few keys. "Is Zeke here yet, Sunshine?" Sharpay smiled sweetly. "No idea." she mumbled. "You okay, Kels?" Sharpay asked, setting a gentle hand on Kelsi's shoulder. "Yeah, fine. Just having a little composer's block." she returned before getting her stuff together and leaving abruptly.

A cold breeze swept through Kelsi. Her tiny figure might have looked frail in the distance. She opened her locker and found a batch of chocolate chip double oatmeal raisin cookies. She smiled.

Kelsi,

You looked down today, so I made you some cookies in home ec. Your favorite. Enjoy! Hope they make you feel better.

-Zeke

Her and Zeke had gotten to be good friends. They had made a pact that if either of them was feeling low, they would either bake a batch of cookies (Zeke) or write a song (Kelsi). But today, even chocolate chip double oatmeal raisin cookies couldn't fix her heartbreak//composer's block.

Zeke had once told Kelsi that he was in love with Sharpay because she was so headstrong. Kelsi was headstrong. Whose compositions had been picked for not one, but TWO musicals? Not Sharpay's; she couldn't write a song wort a crap.

And Kelsi could sing! Oh, she could sing. She was just to intimidated to sing. Kelsi was more of a composer than a singer, and that was okay with her.

Every time Kelsi was around Zeke, she was practically begging for him to notice her. But, alas, Zeke was a very dense teenager. He was already set in his own ways, and Kelsi dared not change them.

And with that thought, a wave of inspiration hit her.

The lead in the movie was exposing her whole heart to the boy, but he was too set in his own ways.

She knew what her motivation was now. All she had to do was capture it.

And that was my Zelsi story, "Composer's Block". I actually liked it! Hope you did too!
