A little warning, my contain some spoilers for those who haven't played Men Against Machine on TF2.
The Reason
The soldier rushed through the avalanche of metal bodies. The man yelled out as he took down the robots one by one with his rocket. As he was nearing the entrance of the tank, his rocket was out of ammo.
The man grunted and quickly switched to use his beloved shovel. Again the Soldier yelled to pump up his energy and smacked all the robots that stood against him.
As he went deeper into the tank, the Soldier noticed that the robot had stopped moving. He huffed slightly and looked around, observing the robots movement. He gripped the shovel tightly, incase those metal decided to do some funny business.
An applause echoed from the other side. The Soldier spun to face the direction of the sound and glared.
"Show yourself, maggot!"
The robots moved aside slowly to give (what it seemed) the creator some way. The Soldier eyes grew wide as he recognizes the man that was standing in front of him. He lowered his weapon and gaped in disbelief.
"Engineer? Buddy, is that you…?"
The once gentle eyes were displaced by robotic eyes. The engineer chuckled coldly at the Soldier and rubbed his metal chin. "Howdy, partner. Nice to see you still kicking some ass."
The Soldier frowned at the great changes on the Engineer. What have that fucking Grey done?! To his friend? To his Engineer? There are so many questions ran through the man's mind. But only one that managed to slip through his mouth.
"Engineer, why…?"
The Engineer just stood there, unmoving. "You know why, partner…"
Before he knew what happened, a huge metal clanked against the back of the Soldier's head, rendered him unconscious. The man dropped to his knees and slumped against the cold floor.
The Engineer stepped closer and squatted beside the other man. He missed his friend, but what RED and BLU had done to them was unforgiveable. The Engineer reached his robotic hand and touched the unconscious man's cheek carefully.
"If only I can still feel your warmth, Soldier…"
The Engineer stood and walked away. "Get him out of here, boys. And scan his feature and memorize the man. He will try to penetrate the tank again to get me."
He was lucky that these robots were lack of human feeling and facial understanding. The Engineer clutched his shirt and his heart just died inside.
"I don't want to see him near the tank ever again, understood?"
Those robots made a wiring noise, memorizing what had their creator had commanded them to do. Roughly, one of the Heavy Giant picked the Soldier up and carried the man toward the mouth of the tank. The robot then tossed the fallen man out to the snow, where his comrades quickly came to aid him.
The Soldier lay there on the cold snow and stared at nothingness as he murmured something.
"Engi… neer…"
As he let himself engulfed in darkness.

A/N: There are some videos all over the net showing that Dell (The blu Engineer as known in TF2 official comic) is siding with the robots. I don't really know whether its true or not, but we'll see about that XD.
