Luke guessed that she had just ended a date, one that hadn't gone well, Lorelie walked over to the counter and sat on the stool directly in front of him. He could smell her perfume, probably something French.
"Come on Luke, you always have some coffee or you could make some." Please? "She begged."I just don't want to go home and be alone just now." Luke turned to go into the kitchen and put on the coffee pot when he heard Lorelie sniffling behind him as if to not cry.
His curiosity got the better of him and he asked 'What happened tonight?'
Lorelie sniffled "I broke up with Jason tonight. He was- well he just wasn't who I thought he was. I thought he cared about me. Wrong again. Luke_ I just need a friend to talk to tonight. I can always come to you. When something like this happens, That's what a friend is for, right.
