Synopsis: I write this in support of Nick and Sara. Post-ep from the finale
Grissom got the call. He heard the words 'drunk driving' and assumed the worst. He couldn't say that he was surprised Sara was intoxicated. It was a subtle change in her behaviour, but he noticed it. At first he thought it was only from not getting the promotion, and that she would rebound in a few days, maybe a week. I guess before she could get over it she had discovered the alcohol, thought Grissom. Nevertheless, he was glad she was okay. He knew he couldn't be mad at her, he couldn't scold her, she wasn't a child. He had to speak to her like an adult, like an equal and a fellow colleague. But also as her supervisor he had to express that this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated. As her supervisor he knew this, but as her friend he wanted to comfort her and support her. Hold her and tell her that things will get better. Things will get better.
They will get better.
They will get better. Grissom couldn't help feeling a little bit like a part of the problem. He knew how she felt about him, but he didn't know what he felt for her. He had told her he didn't know what to do about it. He truly didn't. He wasn't one to attract a lot of girls, and he was getting older. One finally does come along, the spark isn't there, but there is a sense of caring, wanting to protect, and maybe a little curiosity. But Sara, being someone he worked with Grissom didn't know what was right. He did know it wasn't right to fraternise with the lower ranks, but it also wasn't right to allow someone to destroy their lives just because of policy. Was he the problem? Or was she only doing this to herself?
Any anger that was left in him fled Grissom's body when he saw Sara sitting alone in the waiting room. She was leaned over in the chair, her hand clasped together. Grissom watched her for a moment, trying to see what she might be looking at in order to make an assumption of what she might be thinking right now. He squinted his eyes, but couldn't see anything. If only he could see her face. He tried to catch of glimpse of it without letting her know he was looking. He couldn't find the right angle. He looked behind and saw the man had left.
Grissom pursed his lips and chewed on the inside of his cheek. He walked into the room and caught a glimpse of Sara's reflection in the window. Her expression, he could read it like a cover of a magazine while waiting at the express checkout on a busy night at the grocery. She was dreading seeing him, embarrassed to have been caught, and thinking she is in control of the situation. Grissom stood behind her for a moment. He considered sitting in the seats across from her, to be professional, and, so maybe by sitting across from her she would look at him. But the rows were too far apart. And forget about being professional, Sara didn't want a boss, she wanted a friend to talk to. She needed a friend to talk to. He sat down in the chair beside her. He put his hand on hers, he meant it to assure her that he was here as a friend, not as her superior and assure her that no one was in trouble yet, but it felt like more.
"Come on, I'll drive you home."
How will it end? Bring back Nick and Sara so we can find out!!!
