Please enjoy.

School was a nightmare, and Daniel Fenton hated it. It was a constant pattern of being pushed into lockers, shoved into closets, and a frenzy of trying to get to class on time, even though the classroom is right next door from where he was, but there was a ghost nearby, so he ended up coming to class twenty minutes into the period, while there was a test going on. Yep, school was a total nightmare. When the day was over, Danny was the first person out of the building, with his friends Samantha Manson and Tucker Foley.

Danny walked alongside his friends Sam to his left and Tucker to his right, "Was it me, or did today seem a lot worse than usual?" Danny asked his friends, his hands clenched the straps on his bag, and his ribcage hurt from the ghost attack from earlier, Skulker with a big ass gun.

"No, it was pretty much the same as always for us," answered Tucker, a dark-skinned techno-geek who sported a red beret and green cargo pants, "then again, you have a bad day every day, so…." He looked down at the sidewalk, it was covered in fallen red and orange leaves which made a satisfying crunch under his boots.

Autumn was always a nice season in Amity Park, the air had a nice, cool crisp to it, and it was never too cold or hot, it was always just right. However, the weather was about the only thing that was nice in the fall. Ghosts were a major problem, there was always one to disturb the city, it had been a problem for a year, and yet the city had done nothing about it. Danny had been the cause, by going inside of his parent's Ghost Portal and turning it on, giving all ghosts access to Earth, and giving Danny the powers of a ghost. In the first couple of months when the ghosts started attacking, much of Amity Park residents moved out, leaving their jobs behind. The one place most affected by that was the school, many of the teachers moved away before the school could get a replacement handy, leading the school's Vice Principal, Mr. Lancer in charge of many classes, while the school worked on getting new teachers. But soon, the students, the teachers, and realized that there would probably be no new teachers, and he would be stuck teaching.

"I think you're just tired, Danny" Sam, the goth of the group, and self-proclaimed 'ultra-recyclo-vegetarian' told him, "today sempt like any other for you. A ghost fight with some guys being dickheads in between just sounds normal to me." She eyed her friend closely as if studying every detail on his face, "When was the last time you got a full night's sleep?" she queried suspiciously.

Her beautiful purple eyes dug into Danny's soul, "I, uh, erm…" he sucked at lying, "I'm not exactly, I'm not exactly sure…," he confessed with a long sigh, breaking eye contact to look at a very interesting fire hydrant, he was pretty sure that he was thrown into it a few times the night before when fighting a ghost, oh the memories. He looked back at Sam, then Tucker, they were both worried, but Sam also looked like she would beat the snot out of him if he didn't tell how long. He sighed again "It could range from like three days to like a week," he said nervously, "but it's okay because the town is safe," the added quickly after his confession.

Sam was not having it, she stared at him, she looked like she wanted to punch him. "Okay, that's it, as soon as we get you home we're putting you to bed," Tucker joked, patting his friend on the shoulder.

"Yeah, sure," Danny laughed, he looked at Tucker, he loved his friends, "as long as you guys don't watch me sleep."

Sam snorted, "If we leave you, you'll end up doing something stupid, and end up not sleeping at all," Danny eyed her, daring her to come up with a reason as to why he wouldn't sleep, he liked to sleep it meant that everything was all right in the city. "Like playing Doomed because a new update came out and you hadn't had any time to play it."

"Wait," Danny stopped in his tracks his bright blue eyes large, "are you telling me that there is a new update of Doom," he turned to Tucker, "And you didn't tell me?" his voice was just higher than a whisper, and on his face was a look of betrayal.

Tucker laughed and looked at his PDA, "Relax Danny, you know I would have told you if it were big," he showed Danny his PDA which had the Official Doom website on screen and revealing that the update was only for minor bug fixes.

"Guys, you're getting off topic here," Sam sighed, but it was too late, the boys moved on to another topic, the topic of Doom, Sam sighed again and looked to the sky, "I should have never opened my mouth."

The sky never seemed to be blue in the Autumn, instead, it was a warm orange. Amity Park was a nice city if someone could look over all the hastily done construction work, and the metallic smell of ectoplasm that loomed in the air, "Race to my house?" Danny asked, they were halfway to his house and could see the neon green 'Fenton Works' sign as they walked.

A big, fat grin worked its way onto Tucker's face, "Hell, yeah I do," he exclaimed, punching the air." He started to sprint towards the house.

"No fair, Tuck, that's cheating!" Danny yelled and started to run as yell, quickly catching up to Tucker and outrunning him. Sam smiled and started after them.

There was a limo in the driveway. Danny hated seeing limos in the driveway because that meant that there was someone unwanted in the house. He stopped at the door of his house and turned to his friends, "Uh, hey," he felt his hand touch the back of his neck, he sighed, "do you mind if I go in alone? It's not that I don't want you here, it's just that when he's around my family things can get more heated than usual, and I really don't want to put you guys through it."

He could tell that his friends didn't want to leave, but he knew that they would try to understand. "I don't know Danny," Sam started, "we know how you get around him."

"Yeah, things can get really heated, and what if he tries to do something?" Tucker chimed in.

"Calm down guys, I've dealt with him before, I can handle him," Danny assured.

Sam sighed, "Fine, but don't let him get under your skin, he has as much power over you as you have on him, Okay?"

"Okay."

"And, also don't let him hit on your Mom, that's just creepy," Tucker told him with a smile.

Danny nodded and laughed, "Got it."

Tucker looked at Sam, "Wanna head to the Nasty Burger?" Sam just shrugged her shoulders and started towards the restaurant with Danny' s best friend.

Danny smiled, "Thanks guys," he mumbled and waved as his friends left. He watched as they walked down the sidewalk, "maybe I could meet up with you guys later," he yelled to them. His friends turned around, Tucker gave him a thumbs up, and Sam just smiled. He didn't want to go inside, but he knew that Vlad could manipulate his parents into doing anything. He opened the door.

Everyone was in living room, Vladimir Masters, a slim, middle-aged man, with long silver hair worn in a low ponytail and an expensive black suit that was neatly pressed, sat in the middle of the Fenton family. No one in the family looked happy, except for Jack Fenton, Danny's father, who was ecstatic, he was chatting up a storm with Vlad, unaware that Vlad had stopped listening to a long time ago.

He came inside, "So, uh...what's going on in here?" Danny asked, already annoyed.

"Danny-boy," Jack boomed, "we were just talking about you," Jack was smiling from ear to ear, he was almost always smiling, he was always just so happy, even when he was stressed or sad, it was almost too easy to make him happy again, Danny couldn't understand how though. Jack was a ghost hunter who had never caught a ghost in his whole life, yet he was perfectly happy, while Danny was a ghost to had caught hundreds of ghosts in just a year, yet he was always sad. Maybe failure was the key to lifelong happiness. "Come and sit with us," Jack exclaimed, Jack Fenton never just talked, he shouted, everything about Jack was big, he made Vlad look small just by sitting next to him.

Seeing as there were no empty chairs in the room, he plopped down on the floor. Danny never took his eyes off Vlad, their eyes locked. Vlad smirked, Danny snarled at Vlad first met Danny, he tried to kill his father, and take his mother, it was that day that Vlad became Danny's mortal enemy. To Danny, Vlad was just a crazed up fruit loop who really needed to get a life and a cat. "So, what were you guys talking about that dealt with me?" Danny asked, still glaring at his nemesis.

"Well sweetie," Danny's mother, Madeline Fenton, started in a sweet voice, "we were discussing how you have been so stressed since the ghost attacks started, and we were thinking maybe it would be good for you to get away," she looked nervous, as if she wasn't sure how her son would react.

Danny's eyes went wide, he shot up from his crossed-legged position on the floor, "No." he stated, he stared at Vlad,he just smirked, "no, there is no way that I am going to move in with you,"he looked at his parents, "there is no way I'm going to move in with him," his voice was rising, he furrowed his brows, "why are you guys even talking about this with him? He's not a part of this family," he looked at Jasmine, his sister, she was nodding in agreement to everything he was saying, "he should-no he has no right to make, or even suggest changes to this family, we are not his family,"

Vlad stood up, "Nonsense boy," his voice sliced through the air, cutting of Danny mid-rant, "I was never suggesting anything about living with me, I was talking about a place where there are no ghosts." he sat back down, and crossed his legs, "Paris."

Danny was bewildered, "What?" he looked to his parents as to confirm it's true, they just nodded, he could only manage to sputter out one word, "why?"

"It's because of the ghosts, son," Jack said gravely, "they seem to be everywhere, and around them you become tense, and you have to leave the room, and nothing has been working, and we can never seem to get away from them," he looked at Maddie, "and we're worried about your health."

"My health," Danny repeated slowly, feeling every syllable slip from his mouth. He couldn't believe it.

"Yes, your health," Jack uttered, "since they started, you never want to talk to us about anything, your grades have been slipping, and you never seem to eat."

"That doesn't make any sense," Danny hissed, "if I'm distant now, won't I be even more distant in France?" he crossed his arms, and stared his dad straight in the eyes, he could tell he didn't know what to say.

"Yes, no," Jack stammered, "look son-"

Danny glared his eyes, "No, you wouldn't even be thinking about this if he," he pointed to Vlad, "didn't bring it up."

Jack's voice was calm, "I know, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it could really help you."

"There is no way that it could 'help' me, Dad."

Danny left the house before anyone could say something, he slammed the door shut behind him.

He sprinted towards a nearby alleyway and called upon the rings that transformed him into Phantom, a snowy-haired, electric green-eyed ghost who protected Amity Park from ghosts.

He shot into the air, feeling the cool wind on his face. He wanted to punch something, he flew through town, looking for ghosts. Not one ghost seemed to be out, the searched the town until dark, there was not one ghost that he could let his anger out on. After a while of more searching and no luck, he landed on a building to rest.

He kicked the gravel on the roof, he laughed coldly, "my health," he said to himself, "what does Paris have to do with my fucking health?" he snapped his fingers, Oh yeah, nothing." he ran his hands through his hair, "don't get it," he grabbed his hair, his eyes were wide, "I just don't fucking get it."

"'It's for your health,'" Danny mocked, "yeah, like you actually care about my 'health,'" he laughed again, "sure, you guys obviously cared when I got the ghost portal working, and when I had uncontrollable ghost powers for days afterwards," laughed again, " all you cared about was the fucking ghost portal. Because all you care about are ghosts," he sighed, "fuck ghosts," he started pacing the roof, "fuck you, Dad, fuck you Mom, I hate you guys," he kicked the gravel, and watched as the rocks made their way into the sky, and disappeared from Danny's sight, "fuck you, Vlad, and your stupid plans, and your stupid money, and your stupid powers."

Danny sighed again, he could see his breath, he didn't bother to turn around, "Get out of here Vlad," he sneered. He hated seeing the blue-skinned, white-caped asshole.

A voice chuckled, "Did your parents upset you, Little Badger?" he mocked he placed a hand on Danny's shoulder, "you wouldn't have to deal with them if you let me teach you."

Danny ripped his shoulder from Vlad's hand, and breathed hard through his nose, "Fine," he hard Vlad says.

"But, you know Daniel, I wouldn't have to send you away if you would just accept me as your Father," Danny could feel Vlad's eyes staring into the back of his head, "and all you have to do is resent Jack."

A toxic green ectoblast shot past Vlad's head, Danny was in battle stance, fists charged with green flame, "You know that I will never do that, so stop trying," his voice was low,his snow-white hair blew in the breeze, "even if I'm mad at my parents, it doesn't mean that I hate them."

Vlad clicked his tongue. " .Tsk. It's always you to start the fights isn't it?" he rose into the air, " Jack is the buffoon who was in charge of making us freaks, Daniel, can't you see? If we kill him, we can stop him from doing it again."

"Shut up," he threw another ectoblast, Vlad blocked it with a simple shield. He threw another one, Vlad blocked it again. Danny was seething with anger, he charged at the half-ghost, and threw a punch, Vlad grabbed his arm and sent sparks of electricity through the boy, Danny screamed in pain.

Vlad didn't let go until Danny transformed back into his human self, "One day you'll see that all you have is nothing, and then you will come crawling to me."

Danny glared at him, his eyes full of hate, "Never," he spat. Vlad scowled and threw the young halfa to the ground. He slid across the gravel, feeling each rock that went into his skin.

He got up and looked around, Vlad had vanished. He checked the time, 9:46, he started to go home, but, before he started walking, he gave the spot where Vlad had been a certain finger, with both hands.

He wished that he had a coat on to cover the big black and blue mark that Vlad had made on his arm. He'd have to wear a jacket during school tomorrow so no one could see the bruise. He sighed and opened the front door to his house, there were noises in the basement, he sighed, 'probably another contraption to kill me,' he thought. He headed up to the second floor where all the bedrooms were, and went to his room, and went straight to bed.

He woke up at noon the next day, it was Saturday, so he didn't need to worry about school. He got dressed and headed to the kitchen, where he got a big cup of coffee. He heard his parents arguing about something in the basement.

"I don't know Jack, I think he's right. Paris? That's a long way from home, and having him stay with complete strangers?, I just don't think it's right."

"But, Maddie, Vlad's trustworthy, and any friend of his is a friend of mine."

"But, Paris?"

"Yes, it's the best place for our kid to be safe, I know it'll be hard, but anywhere that we go here, ghosts come along. I don't think that he can handle it much longer, Maddie."

Danny heard his Mom sigh, "Only three months, then I want him home."

"Yeah, he can also come for Christmas and Thanksgiving," Jack said sweetly. Danny heard them coming up the stairs, "we need to tell him," Jack said, he stopped in his tracks when he saw his son, knowing that he heard every word.

Danny sat at the table, staring into his coffee, "I don't have a choice do I?" He asked. His parents were silent. He sighed, "when do I go?"

Maddie took a deep breath, "a week."

Danny just nodded and sipped his coffee, he wanted to kick and scream and throw a tantrum, but he knew that his parents had made up their minds, and it was no use. Besides, it wasn't his parents' fault to be worried about him, but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to kill Vlad for giving them the idea.
