Authors Note: This sort of drifted into my mind a few weeks ago. It was initially going to be longer, but it seemed best suited to drabble format, so I pruned it a little.

Is this, then, the price of her loyalty? A few whispered words, the soft sweep of a thumb over her collarbone?

A searing kiss in a warm dark tent?


They stand before each other, naked and unashamed.

"Do you think this will make me trust you?"

"I think this wouldn't have happened, have gone this far, if you didn't."


He echoes a god that neither of them believe in as he murmurs, "Forgive them, for they know not what I do." And as he sacrifices himself, throws his body down to the devil, she knows that this is not over.
