Poem 1:
I miss the days where
The only responsibilities
I had accumulated
We're whether I had read
My due chapters, or
Finished my daily chores.
No longer can I idly watch
As the sunflowers drift
From east to west,
Because now I am consumed
By school and work
I work to get money.
I use money to pay off school.
I go to school to get more work.
It's a poisonous cycle
I yearn for summer.
I fear the day when summer
No longer means a break
From it all, but instead
Is only heat and sweat.
I must make do I suppose
And wait patiently
For those lovely
Summer nights
