I Left Something Turned On At Home
It had been a long day, hell, a long week, at the Ministry and Ron was definitely ready for a drink with the boys at the pub. They were already there, settled into a big booth near the stage. There was a pretty decent band playing Weird Sisters covers. A rousing cheer went up around the table as he walked up.
"Cheers mate!" "Oi, Ron!" and "Hey!!" all got jumbled together.
They'd apparently already been drinking for a while.
He'd barely sat down when the serving wench came to take his order – a shot of firewhiskey with an ale chaser and a basket of fish and chips. Thankfully, the drinks came quickly, and he downed the firewhiskey quickly before shouting a request to the band. He raised his mug of ale in a toast as they swung into his favorite Weird Sisters song.
Ron was just settling into the ongoing Quidditch debate when Pig flew into the pub behind a customer and began circling his head. He removed the parchment, then slowly flushed bright red as he read the note. Bloody Hell!
"Oi, mate, is everything alright?"
"Yeah, Harry, fine….er, I've, um, got to go." His ears were still bright red.
Harry reached out to try to take the note. "Do you need any help?"
"NO!" Seamus and Dean, at this point, were looking confused, but gradually lapsed back into Quidditch stats.
"Alright mate, but you might as well sit down so you can eat your dinner."
"I'll eat at home. Where's the girl so I can cancel my order?"
"Damn!" The waitress was already bringing his food. "Miss, could you wrap that up for me? I'm not eating here after all." As she stalked off to wrap his food, Ron dropped a couple galleons on the table and swallowed his ale as quickly as possible.
The waitress turned, his food in her hand. He summoned it, not even willing to wait until she walked back over. She gaped as it flew across the pub. He gave one last look to the band, which was still in the middle of the song he'd requested, then turned on the spot, and was gone. Harry stared. What in Merlin's name?
In his haste, Ron had dropped the note onto the bench next to Harry, who picked it up to see what had Ron so upset.
Ron,
I know you're meeting the boys for drinks at the pub, but I've been missing you terribly all day. I got home a little early, and I'm sitting in the bedroom in your favorite outfit with a tub of chocolate sauce. Is there any chance you might leave the pub a little early so you could help me enjoy it?
Love,
Hermione
Bloody Hell! Harry evanescoed it before the others could read it over his shoulder, shaking his head.
A/N : this plot bunny came from a lazy morning of hitting the snooze button and is based on Trace Adkins' song "I Left Something Turned On at Home"
