"Why should we trust you?" asked Castiel.
Lucifer's face twisted in a pantomime of hurt.
"Hey, I'm the one waving the white flag here. I just wanna reconcile with my son. You're the ones who're always saying family's so damn important."
Castiel sighed. "You've hardly the best track record..."
Lucifer waved away the comment. "A boy needs his father..." He continued despite Castiel's dubious expression. "Besides, as Jack's powers grow, I reckon you'll need me too."
He paused. "Yeah, now's the right time for a coup d'état," he muttered.
Castiel frowned. "Don't you mean carpe diem?
"Hmm? Yeah, that too."
