Ethan Stewart walked through the glass double doors into the bullpen of the BAU headquarters in Quantico, Virginia. His long strides led him over to his dear friend Spencer Reid's desk, he stopped and waited to be acknowledged.
The handsome, well-built black man sitting at the desk to the right looked him up and down. His attention was brought back to his reason for being there when Spencer stood up.
"Ethan, what are you doing here?"
"You needed me." He simply stated. His friend was a genius; he knew what he had done.
"W-what are you talking about?" The young man stammered.
"This," he threw down a folded piece of paper onto the desk. "That's what I'm talking about. Let me see." Ethan's sadness was quickly turning into anger.
"See what?"
God help him, but Spencer could pull off the little-boy-lost look. "Do you really want to do this here?"
"Ethan." The skinny agent begged.
"Fine." Ethan grabbed Reid's left arm and yanked off the watch, slamming it down on the desk. He then pushed the cardigan up and was about to unbutton the cuff of the shirt when the other agent stood up.
"Now wait just a minute." Morgan said.
"Stay out of this Agent Morgan." Ethan seethed; he had finished the button and started pushing the sleeve up.
"Ethan, no." Reid cried.
"Damn, it, Spencer. This is bad." The other man stared at the old and new scars. He could see four fresh cuts that were deep enough that they were still bleeding through the bandages covering them. Ethan closed his eyes and took a couple of deep breaths; then he pulled his friend into a tight hug and let the fragile young man emit quiet tears.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Morgan standing there with a shocked look on his face. Another woman had come over to stand beside the black man. "Tell his boss I'm taking him home. I'm not sure if he will be in tomorrow. We'll discuss that later."
Ethan patted the stringy brown curls and then whispered, "Come on, Spencer. Let's go home." The taller man turned them and kept his arm around Reid's shoulders as they headed out the door and into an elevator.
A/N: This is a one-shot but I might be persuaded to continue it.
