Author's Notes: I know I have no business writing this especially when I should be working on the next chapter of Love Is A Battlefield but this was a surprise Christmas gift to my dear Jackie! It's probably not my best work but I really enjoyed writing this piece. I know Zechs and Noin are a hard pairing to write but I think I managed to sum up their relationship very well. This story has been beta read by the wonderful PimpMastaPopo. Do yourselves a favor and check out her fics! Happy reading and remember constructive criticisms are welcomed!
Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing or anything related to the Gundam Wing franchise.
Dedicated to Patriot Jackie
She was always devoted to him and only him. No one would ever question where her loyalties lied. It was painfully obvious to all those who knew them that he was the one who held her heart in the palm of his hand. He was the one who had her completely spell bound.
He fully believed she deserved better than someone like him, but she would have none of it. For years, he tried to push her away. He tried everything he could think of to make her give up on him: ignoring her feelings, being cold and impassive towards her and even leading her into dangerous situations on purpose.
Perhaps if she realized that he wasn't worth loving, she would stop pitying him and move on with her life. He didn't need her or anybody else. He could manage to live without her just as he done after his family had been destroyed.
Noin, however, refused to leave his side. She would constantly support him and encourage him even when she knew he didn't deserve any of her kindness. She was the sort of woman that selflessly enveloped loved ones with her warmth, compassion and gentle love.
He wasn't worthy to have any part of her-whether it be her heart, her body or her soul. People like him should be left to suffer and then die a miserable death. But she wouldn't give up on him.
She loved him fiercely but she could never come straight out and tell him as much. But after all, she didn't have to. It was in her eyes, her body language and her voice. Everything she did practically screamed how much she cared for him.
Even when he tried to leave her behind on Earth during the White Fang uprising, she purposely sought him out. When she finally managed to catch up to him, she stood before him bravely but he could tell she was scared. She didn't want to lose him but she was willing to lay down her life for him.
In the end, he couldn't bring himself to kill her. How could he snuff out the light that managed to save him from the darkness time and time again? He knew without her, he would have succumbed to madness long ago. Now those memories seemed like a very distant and long forgotten past.
It was almost as if he were a completely different person back then. Perhaps he was, but now he finally understood what she must have gone through for his sake. She was always sacrificing herself for him, never expecting anything from him in return.
Now the tables had been turned completely. Once he finally realized she wasn't going to leave him, he constantly found himself wanting to be by her side. He didn't care what he had to do to make her understand his feelings but she was his soul mate. She completed him and made him feel whole. She kept the darkness in him at bay while still retaining the light within her.
They might have lost time by running away from each other and denying what their hearts truly wanted for years, but two hearts had finally become one. Two souls were now joined together to partake in their very own beautiful waltz of romantic bliss.
