As the plane landed Reid had yet to make a decision. The others were subtly dropping hints at how good the evening would be, though behind their words Reid knew what they meant. The tam needed this evening. They needed this evening to go well, so they could feel like a family again. It would be a milestone in moving on from the events of the past year. They could never forget what had happened, but they could accept it and move on.
Acceptance.
It was then that Reid realised what his next step would be, though it would mean he was a little late for the dinner.
As he stood outside the mansion that was Rossi's house, Reid turned his chip over and over in his pocket. The meeting had served its purpose. Reid hadn't spoken but had listened instead. Listened to stories of hope and despair. They all had one thing in common-other people. It was other people who shaped the outcome of life. People draw on the strength of each other, but can also get dragged down by others. On reflection, Reid realised that the people in his life were strong. They had all suffered greatly in their lives however they had accepted tragedy, loss and betrayal and had moved on. That is what he would do now. Feeling like he would use again was not a sign of weakness, it was a sign of addiction. Although he had been clean for years, he had to accept he had an issue and that it would always be there. But if he accepted it was part of the illness and was natural to want to fallback on it in hard times, then he cold accept it was also possible for things to get better. Addiction was important to him, bu so was his team, and it was the latter that gave him strength and comfort. So, yes, he has been lied to, bt there had been enough pain and confusion to go around all f them. It was time to work together as a family an get through it and move on.
