Tired of the Rain
Hikaru took Haruhi's hand as she cowered under the table in fear. He listened as another peal of thunder sounded from outside the church and through the stained glass windows he saw a flicker of lighting flash across the darkening sky.
'Please let it stop soon' he thought, not just for Haruhi's sake but his too. The longer it rained the longer he'd have to stay sheltered with Haruhi. And that meant he'd be away from Kaoru for even longer.
'I'm tired of the rain that keeps falling
Falling down on me…
Please help find some shelter
From the pain that's pouring on me.'
It wasn't that he didn't want to stay with Haruhi- he did- he just wanted to be with his brother more. With each drop of rain that fell outside, with each flinch Haruhi made Hikaru's panic built up. Why had his brother been so stubborn about him spending more time with Haruhi? If he hadn't then they wouldn't be sat under a table waiting…waiting to find some comfort from a less temporary shelter.
Haruhi's shelter would be in Tamaki Senpai and Hikaru's would be in Kaoru.
'Please help me find some shelter
From the pain that's pouring on me.'
For now though it was up to Hikaru to provide Haruhi's comfort and he'd just have to hope it wasn't going to affect his relationship with Kaoru.
'At the moment Haruhi's like a mountain' Hikaru thought 'Just as mountains stand in people's way she's the one thing standing in our way and just like a mountain she's quite unaware of it. So it's up to me and Kaoru to work it out…
If we want it badly enough we will.'
'You know I've been climbing this mountain
But it's still rocky and steep…
When I get over this mountain
You know I'll be set free'
Freedom from prying eyes, that's what Hikaru wanted. He didn't want people to look down on him for how he acted with his brother and he didn't want it to be a problem between the two of them. He wanted to be with Kaoru without having to worry about strangers watching them and judging them.
He wished people would use their eyes properly- not to judge people from a first glance but to look deeply. Like Haruhi had done with him and Kaoru. She had looked aside from their outward appearance and looked at them.
'I once met a blind man who asked me
To see things he couldn't see…
He spoke of a land called forever
Where you don't need eyes to see'
Maybe the reason Haruhi could understand them so well, could see them so well, was because she'd stopped using her eyes to judge them from face value.
Hikaru turned to look at her and realised she'd stopped using her eyes altogether- she had her hands covering her eyes and his headphones covering her ears.
'I'm tired of this rain that keeps falling
Falling down on me.'
Hikaru put his arm around Haruhi and whispered to her
"Don't worry, it'll be over soon. It'll stop falling soon. Then you can enjoy the peace that comes after the rain."
