Surely he was dead.
However despite being flattened by a boulder he could still hear as the sound of it rolling away was loud and clear along with his friend's screams, all of which echoed around the cavern. He could still taste as the gritty grime of the floor was currently gracing his mouth with its earthy presence, and he could still feel as for such a smooth looking floor it was covered in dozens of tiny rocks that were all currently trying their hardest to dig into him in the most uncomfortable positions. Being pressed so close to the ground he discovered he could still smell, as the musty scent of the dirt was a lot stronger when you where closer to it.
He couldn't see much beyond darkness, but that had more to do with the fact his eyes were tightly closed rather than there being anything wrong with his eyes. This all seemed to point at the fact that he was still alive, despite being crushed by a giant boulder.
As clearly, if his senses were still working he couldn't be dead, he just couldn't bring himself to believe it. But unless the afterlife had far more secrets then he'd believed until now he had to still be alive.
A loud bang filled the cavern as he lay dazed on the ground, his hands pressed against the soft dirt. Around his neck his Ring gave a not uncomfortable warm pulse, and still he wasn't quite convinced that the boulder hadn't sent him to his doom. It was a boulder after all.
"Bakura? Are you ok?" Anzu asked from above him. Behind him Yugi and Honda were, discussing, Pegasus' latest prank. He could only whimper in response. Now that he thought about it the boulder had been rather light, with a pressure that was usually associated with gas and there was one sensation he couldn't feel; pain. His heart, which had been thumping erratically until now, slowed to a more sedate rhythm.
So he was still alive. He chuckled nervously.
"Sorry everyone," he managed to say with a whimper as his scattered wits returned to him. Honda, muttering something about doing unspeakable things to Pegasus, motioned for them to continue back up the tunnel.
"At least we know that's a dead end," Yugi said faintly, trying to be helpful. No one answered him.
"I don't think I like caves," Bakura muttered as he stood up. Brushing the half dry dirt off him he decided to keep his eyes on the ground from now on. Anzu shot him a sympathetic smile as they began their ascent.
Thankfully he wasn't dead.
