A/N: Found an old poem I wrote a while back about the wolves in Wolf's Rain that were forced to work for humans. I thought it wasn't too shabby so I decided to upload it here.

R&R please!

These weary paws so sore and frail

Beat a worn and dusty path.

Once more the harness is 'round my chest,

I find I can barely breathe.

How long have I walked this road?

The road to nowhere?

The whip cracks and we lurch forward

As a single body.

Just like the many times before.

I want to collapse

But I know I can't.

They need me to help pull.

So I'll change it into something else

I'm going to Paradise.

Yes, that's where I'll go.

I'm coming, wait for me!

I'm the white wolf

Traveling to a land far away

So bleak and cruel.

My friends will be beside me.

I have nothing to fear.

Harder I pull, until I drag the others.

They're so slow, I'll never make it!

"Faster" I pant

The whip snaps.

I strain against the leather.

I won't let them stop me!

I'm going to Paradise

And nothing will get in my way.

My legs shake and I fall to the floor.

I made it.

I close my eyes.

So peaceful…

I am greeted by the sweet smell

Of lunar flowers.
