I sighed, gathering my grey paws under me as I watched Dovepaw talk to Firestar and Lionblaze. Unlike they did to the other apprentices, they stared at her, ace blank, eyes intense and eating up wevery single word she said. Dovepaw, Dovepaw, Dovepaw! That's in every sentence I heard. "Well, Dovepaw said..." "Well, Dovepaw did..." "Did you see Dovepaw? Amazing!"

When I was younger, I probably would have been proud of her for so much attention, but when I got something too. No one paid attention to the sister. Ms. Perfect's sister. Every time anyone set eyes on my I could just tell they were comparing me to her. I always wished I could read minds when they did that, but I thought afterward, "What did they think? Bad of me? 'Dovepaw doesn't say/do that!'" And Dovepaw was beautiful. With her sleek shady grey fur that went perfectly her evergreen eyes. I had blue eyes, but not a lake blue or lapis, but a straight light blue thatdidn't stand out from my prickly white and grey tabby fur.

Most of the time, I would daydream of being Dovepaw, being treated like her, or... It was wrong to wish the third one, but I didn't care. All I cared about is being asgood as her. Dovepaw. When a brown tabby with ice blue eyes started visiting me in my dreams, I began to think, someone wants me. Someone thinks I'm special. And his... father or friend, want me too. There was another two "novices" under the wise cats training, Breezepelt and Tigerheart. I admired them. There strength. They both had reasons to be there, mostly Breezepelt. I had heard of his father betraying him, having kits with Leafpool. n fact, one of those kits was my siste's mentor. He wanted revene on his father, to be strong. Powerful. Tigerheart was amazing, too. But he liked Dovepaw. I heard them talking at the Gathering. He nodded at me once at a Gathering and I could pick a flame in her eye. Then I really wanted to tell her off, that she didn't own everything and everyone. And why should she be... jealous? Was it jealousy? How did she have jealousy over me when he nodded at me? I didn't like him, not that way. I liked no one that way, anyway, who needs a bunch of toms padding after them anyway? Dovepaw must, the way she looked.
Earlier, we had been practicing how to jump out of trees, jump on enemies out of trees. I'd bet her I could make it back to the hollow without touching the ground, but she fell out of the tree. Smart and stupid. That night, she woke me up and wanted to go on some crazy mission to WindClan. I didn't want to, but she's still my sister, ya' know? We got caught, and wonderful. Here's where I am the next day, getting a punishment from Firestar. Then he sends me off and wants to talk to Dovepaw.

Later that day, we were assigned hunter partners. I got Blossompaw, little sweetheart. She wanted Dovepaw instead. That made me want to curl up in the deepest rabbit hole, melt into the dirt and die there. I had a dream, a very special dream. The next day, the day of the hunting, Blossompaw snapped and told me to stay out of her way, since it turned out to be her assesment. I caught a squirrel using my new, and quite good, hunting pose, but then she only gets a blackbird and blames it on me. A few days later, a battle went out. Tigerstar and Hawkfrost told me that they had something to say about it, and it went from there. ShadowClan attacked ThunderClan over a strip of land.

I won't be remembered as the shadow of my sister now,ThunderClan.
