The Essence of Destruction

I run, my friend falls. My own fear prevents me from going back. I hear a scream as the memories of him and me rush over my mind. I escape and get away, no external wounds, only internal. I weep, my friend is now dead forever. My mind becomes angry, I run back in. I reload. I see my target, the forgotten soldier. He rushes me. I fall. His teeth nearly scrape my skin. My gun sits pinned to the ground. I overcome his strength and aim. I fire, the shot echoes to every corner. He falls, finally free. I am now alone, always alone.
