OLYMPUS HIGH

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

A/N: I wanted to write a story about the Greek gods and goddesses and how it would be like, were they real and were in high school—teenagers with raging hormones.

My name is Andrew. Andrew Carter. You may know me by my other name-Apollo. You all know how we once lived as gods-yes, gods-now you will hear how we lived as mortals. Yes, sadly, we were once gods. Loved and worshiped by mortals. But men started to neglect us. They forgot all about us. We faded into oblivion, spurned by the mortals who once loved us. My twin sister Artemis (or should I say Amanda?) says, "the mortals who once feared us." I think I disagree. Anna-Aphrodite-agrees with me. They truly did love us. They just forgot. And even for immortals like us, there is a point of no return. Death, if you will-but not how you understand it. We faded, died away. We immortals thrive on love and worship-as you humans thrive on food. Ambrosia was not the only thing that sustained us.

We were forgotten, as I have said. We were like books left on the shelf to gather dust. We slowly faded, became nothing, as gradually, mortals set their eyes and hearts on other pursuits. Our Father Zeus wanted to gather a few loyal followers. But this, too, it seemed, was impossible. They followed us for a time-worshiped us. But they turned their backs on us and scorned us. Ares and Athene wanted to destroy them-punish them for turning from us. And so did Hera. But Aphrodite stopped them at the last minute. She could not bear to see any destruction. Typical, as she was the goddess of love. She did not wish harm on any mortal. She relented. Finally, after the last of our worshipers left us, we gave up hope. We had no more strength left to gather followers. We had no strength left to punish them. We grew weak. First to go was Hera. She spread her arms to the wind.

And as it blew, she was carried away into oblivion. Her form grew thinner and thinner until she vanished and was no more. She was followed by Athene. Then Hermes. Then Ares. Zeus. Artemis. Hephaestus. Aphrodite. Poseidon. Hades. We went with the wind. I was the last to go. I still had a little faith in mortals. Then I decided to give it all up. And I too went with the wind. I made a dying wish-one last request-to Zeus, however. I prayed we would be reborn when the time was right.

Eons later, my request was granted. We were reborn-as mortals-to live among them. To observe if their hearts had changed. So here we are, living as you do. Taking up human names, adopting human form, human families. As I've mentioned (and as you all know) I have a twin sister. Amanda. Our mom Linda (yes, my mother Leto was also reborn) brought us to live here, in Athens, Florida. My sister and I go to Olympus High. Mom has had an affair-and I think she still does-with Zachary Oliver, the school principal. I don't need to explain to you who that is, do I? I'm sure you all know who that is.
