I gathered my books for Transfiguration and Potions and quickly put my hair over my shoulders. My studies and school were far too important for me to be late. Studies controlled my life, i was a very dedicated student.

Just as I was about to walk into my classroom, a very rude girl pushed her way into the classroom before me, making me drop my books and quill and ink. I glared at the girl in front of me, already aware who it was. Evangeline Black, better known as Evie the Terror, daughter of the infamous Bellatrix LeStrange, and my cousin.

"Oi, watch it half-blood," Evie told me as she cackled with laughter and mocked me while i picked up my books. i glared on at her and gritted my teeth in pure loathing.

Evie was foul. She was a bully, which was expected given her upbringing, but she was a beautiful bully. Evie had long curly jet black hair and stunning blue eyes. Her skin was soft and pale but not a sickly pale. She acted like she was big and bad, even though I'm sure her mother would have disowned her for being a Gryffindor. I knew that much for a fact.

"Why don't you watch your own step, Black?" I growled at her as I took my seat and saw that Professor McGonagall had seen the entire situation. I blushed, having been humiliated in front of my favorite professor. I wanted to jinx Evie so badly.

"Miss Lupin and Miss Black, take your seats or you will find new ones in detention, understood?" Professor McGonagall snapped at Evie, somewhat at me. She favored me, even if she never admitted it. I was a star pupil, and kind hearted. I was also not afraid to take risks, and she had taught my own parents before me. The clumsy and courageous Nymphadora Tonks and the kind hearted werewolf Remus Lupin.

"Yes, professor," I said quietly and I looked over my shoulder and glared at my second cousin who licked her teeth and grinned hatefully at me. She had her arms draped over her new boyfriend (she had a new one every week) named something Goyle.

"Would you mind moving your quill from my seat, please?" a slightly irritated voice asked me. I looked over my shoulder to see one more of my least favorite relatives: Lyra Malfoy, little sister to Draco Malfoy. I sneered at her and snatched my quill from her seat. Although Lyra wasn't as brutally and physically annoying as Evie, she was stuck up and kept to herself. I learned this the hard way when we were little and she'd called me a filthy blood. I haven't spoken a nice word to her since.

"Today class, you will be paired in groups of three. I will assign the groups of course, based upon special abilities and skills. You will be working with your partners for the rest of the year, and you very well be spending more than a wished amount of time with them." Professor McGonagall explained to the class. I smiled. I was obviously going to go with my best friend Victoire Weasley, since we were both miraculously clever.

However, as usual, fate was not on my side. I saw it before it came. Professor McGonagall had called everyone else's name except for mine…and…oh, Merlin… "Evangeline Black, Lyra Malfoy, Juliet Lupin."

The three of us were stunned into silence. My cheeks burned red with angst and disgust. I was furious and highly unpleased. It was ridiculous! Lyra might have half the talent I did, but there was no way in bloody hell that Evie was a fraction of my intelligence. It was an outrage unlike any other I had faced!

"But, Professor," Lyra spoke the words that were threatening to come out of my own mouth. "We have absolutely nothing in common."

Professor McGonagall had a strange glint in her eye. "That is where you are undoubtedly incorrect, Miss Malfoy."
