A/N- this is Arwen's mind as she watches Aragorn die. Or at least, as I perceive it.
Arwen's Agony
Souls dance in the air
Blue lights, angelic tones
Fleeing the broken world
Music wraps around them
Fills the earth with echoes
The future claws at me
Rips and tears me
Pulls me along in the rapids of Time
The river flowing ever onward
No rescue to be found
Changes everywhere I look
No escape, just dark heartache
Longing for the past
See the ocean, the heaving waves
It calls, it burns, it commands me
And I cannot obey
The molten touch of day's last light
The cold of newborn moonlight
Each tells me that my time is gone
My life is passing quickly
I wonder, then, should I have chosen
To pass beyond the world
Like a mortal would
Oh, love, release me
Though I know 'tis a selfish request
I watch the life leave you, and I am only thinking
That I have promised to follow you there
To never see the Undying Lands
But pass on, with you
So this is Death
And I have forfeit my life
You will not stay, but choose to pass away
Beyond my touch
And it is my fate,
To follow, to die, to join the ranks of Men
Oh Luthien, you never said how hard it would be
To never cross the sea...
