Picture the Future
From-11:59 Series The Millennium Gate
Where Kathryn Janeway tells the story of her relative who built the millennium gate. Only to find out it wasn't true. This story is set in the last scene, where the captain goes to the mess hall to celebrate ancestor's day and the doctor snaps a picture of the senior staff.
Kathryn walked over to Chakotay, who was speaking with B'Elanna. Chakotay looked up at her with a gentle smile. "Captain would you care to join us?" Kathryn sipped some of her champagne. B'Elanna looked at her former captain, "Yes, please join us." They all chatted for a while. B'Elanna excused herself and left for her quarters. Chakotay and Kathryn continued to talk about the millennium gate, and what it had meant for humanity. Their conversation was interrupted by Neelix.
"Excuse me Captain and commander, I am going to my quarters now is their anything that I can get you before I leave?"
"What time is it Neelix?"
"Around 0200."
Kathryn gasped as she grabbed Chakotays arm. "I think I should be going also, would you walk with me Chakotay?"
"Of course." They left the mess hall and began to walk down the corridor.
Chakotay took a deep breath. "Mind if I ask you a question off the record?"
Kathryn looked up at him, "go ahead." They stopped shy of the turbo lift. "You had said that Henry Janeway and Shannon O'Donnell were from to different worlds." "Yes, that's right." "But then you said that he was stuck in the past and she was stuck in the future and that they should meet in the present."
Kathryn laughed as they entered the turbo lift. "What's your question commander?" He turned and looked deep into her eyes. "Is it possible that we could meet in the present even though we are very different?"
Kathryn looked down at her feet, and then looked back up at him. He was closer now. She struggled to find words. The turbo lift door opened. She walked out. He followed her. Then behind her she heard his voice. "Kathryn are you going to answer my question?" Shoot she thought, I almost made it to my quarters. She turned around, and smiled at him.
"Off the record commander," she leaned closer to him closed her eyes and kissed him. Chakotay was completely taken off guard by her reaction. He wrapped his arms around her Deeping the kiss. She pulled away from him. "I hope that answers your question commander. She went into her quarters. The door closes behind her. Chakotay smiles as he walks to his quarters.
There are many pictures in our mind that we wish we could capture. Those moments are always recorded in our hearts.
