She was the first lost soul the God had ever encountered.

"You, who have no home to return to, and are unable to freely pass on, I will grant you a place to stay."

The God spoke her name,

"My name is Ina."

and claimed the soul.

"Grasping thy true name, I bind thee here. With borrowed name, I dub thee my servant. The name answers, the vessel to sound. I call thee as my Divine Instrument."

She gave the soul a name, and an alternate.

"The name, Yumi! The vessel, Kyuu!"

Then the God called the soul.

"Come, Kyuuki!"

The lost soul was surrounded by light. She zoomed in to the Goddess' hand, and turned to a Japanese long bow, completed with a quiver-full arrows on her back. Her life flashed before the God's eyes. It filled her heart with melancholy.

"You poor soul."

The soul gave her a smile.

"Revert, Yumi."

The bow glowed and reverted the soul's human form; a teen with thin hair as white as snow, that appeared to reach her knees. Eyes as blue as the sky. She wore a shinishozoku, as indication she was dead.

That evening, the crimson sunray lit the lake they stood beside to. Stars begin to appear on the night sky, cicadas chirping as if welcoming the night. The Fiendish Hour has passed by, surprisingly peacefully at their area.

"Yumiko."

The soul cocked her head.

"From now on, you will serve me as Yumiko, my Shinki. Be my weapon, we shall protect the humans from the phantoms."

The soul gave her a smile, and signed with her hands, "I will be at your care."
