A\N: This is way into the future, Finn and Rachel are no longer together, they broke up in the beginning of college and met other people and now they both live in New York with their significant other.
He got the call at one something in the morning.
His phone buzzed on top of his nightstand and he reached for it before Anna could wake up. Yawning, he shuffled out of the room tiredly, not even checking the caller i.d. as he brought the phone to his ear. "Hello?"
"Finn," she breathed.
He was wide awake now. Sitting up in alarm, he pressed the phone to his cheek. "Rachel?" he hissed, "what – why are you calling me so early in the morning?"
"I'm sorry," she said and he could immediately tell she was crying. Oh God, what if something bad had happened?
"Rachel, what's wrong?" his voice was soft now.
"I'm sorry," she apologized again, "I shouldn't have done this – I –"
"Done what?" he asked, "Rachel, what happened?"
He hasn't talked to her in a long time. Sure, they still had each other's numbers and stuff but what exes would talk on a daily basis? But still, Rachel was a big part of Finn's life and he was a big part in hers. Just because they weren't together now doesn't mean they could never speak to each other again.
Besides, he had Anna now. And Anna was great.
"Nothing, I just –"
"Tell me." He said, settling back into his recliner in his living room. "It has to be important if you're calling me at one thirty in the morning."
He listened as she let out a heart-wrenching sob and all he wanted to do was see her. "I – I tried so hard," she gasped out, "t-to get away, but I couldn't and he just got to me and it – it hurt. I –"
"Rach, slow down, please," Finn said, trying to keep calm, "Chase hit you?"
"I – yes," she admitted, and she sounded so exhausted, so scared.
"Where is he?" he continued to remain calm.
"He left," she told him, "he said he had a meeting to go to. Knowing him, he won't be back for a few days."
"Rachel," he said his voice deadly serious, "you need to get out of there. You can't be in a marriage like this."
"I can't," she whimpered, her voice so scared again. "If I do and he comes home and finds me gone… he'll do something worse."
Finn sat quietly for a moment, contemplating.
Then he jumped up, "I'll be there soon."
"No, Finn, it's – it's too late, I shouldn't have –"
"You did the right thing by telling someone," he said, "I'll be there in thirty minutes."
And he hung up before she could protest again.
