Now let me tell you this, when you see force of enemies with better weapons, better bodies, big guns in space ready to tear you a new one, and determination to end you and your fellow guys.
You will give up.
I gave up, the guy next to me gave up, and even our commander gave up. He never gave up, but apparently this was too much for him. So with one last move I peeked out of a window for some sort of sign that will show us poor souls that we are not completely screwed. And the only thing I saw was a group of aliens clearing the streets and buildings.
All I saw was the shocked looks of a couple of damn aliens as they go around a corner and watch them turn into mist.
First was the aiming of the gun, second was the disbelief, third was the panic, fourth was the attempt, fifth was the sound of our salvation, and sixth was the sound of something heavy moving.
What greeted my sight was something I totally did not expect. I for one thought one of our tanks decided to hide in a alleway or something but instead what came out was some small armored vehicle with TWO multi-barreled machine guns, snub barrel main gun, and weird chassis.
The guys behind me stopped what they were doing and I am pretty sure they were looking at the weird tank as well. But the tank is going to have a big problem, the rest of the aliens were shooting at it, chucking grenades, and one was pulling out a rocket launcher.
Did it care? No. For it just fired the main cannon right into the rocketeer and turned the offending shooters into stains and limbs. Apparently the moving hunk of destruction thought that the fight wasn't good enough so it just kept on moving onto nearby sounds of fighting, however is defending is going to be saved, and however is attacking shall be praying for salvation.
Some dudes held up in a area near the Slug.
I swear everyone stopped shooting when they heard the loud sound going off in the distance, even the aliens stopped shooting us for once.
Then all of a sudden we heard a rumble of an engine and the sound of metal being crushed to our right. Everybody turned their heads to the right and all we saw was a metal thing go around the corner and face the aliens. It was a weird thing but that changed when all of a sudden bullets were just mowing the aliens down. Some recovered quick and took cover from the hail of lead, while other tried to shoot back miserably.
All shots from the aliens just bounced off or embedded itself to the hull of the armored vehicle and the twin multi barreled machine guns were doing work. The next thing I saw was the weirdest and the most beautiful action I have ever seen from an armored vehicle.
It jumped, not some little bunny hop but rather it went one floor up shot a HE round to some group and landed on the aliens cover. Sweet merciful tank gods that was beautiful, I heard a guy sniffling in the back. Don't worry, that was worthy of man tears. But it did not stop there, it just kept on moving, crushing a poor S.O.B and turning another into Swiss cheese and basically screwing everything around it.
Once everything was cleared up the tank continued on, occasionally pointing the guns up and down. It kept on doing that until we could no longer see it, Ramirez said something about what he just witnessed.
I replied, "that was the most beautiful example of how armored vehicles should work."
