Chapter One
Why? What did I do to deserve this? She winced as the knife slid down her back, spilling crimson onto the rain-soaked cemetery ground. A few tears fell into the gashes on her arm, burning them and making her whimper even more. Her attacker grabbed her hair and pulled her ear to his lips. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see his own white locks stained with her blood.
"Hush, now, or I'll have to kill you faster. You don't want that, do you? You won't get to say goodbye to your beloved brother. No one will ever find your body way out here..." He ran the blade slowly along her cheek and grinned. Yet another poor soul, doomed by my hikari... Will he ever learn that I take everything he has?
He had been slowly slicing her flesh for a good half hour, and still she clung to her life. There must be some way I could get out of this... Oh, if only I'd told Joey where I was going... She blinked back more tears as her brother's smiling face flashed through her mind. She never listened to him when he lectured about safety. And now I'll never get to...
"Aw, look at you! You're so cute when you're dying!" He yanked her hair back further and held the knife in front of her face so that it acted as a mirror. She opened her eyes just enough to see her face covered in rain, sweat, and blood, her red hair sticking together, and that smile behind her. The smile that ruined, no, took away her life.
He chuckled and brought the knife to her throat. She squeezed her eyes shut and prepared to fill her lungs with her last breath. He started to pull the knife against her soft skin...
