Both of the suns were setting as Anakin finished cleaning some new parts; he slid off the counter he had been sitting on, then walked over to an area of the shop where they kept spare stuff and put it among some parts similar to it. "Watto, can I go home yet?" Anakin asks, walking around to the back where they had a bunch of ships, parts, broken droids and the like. "Yeah, fine! Lock it up behind you." The Toydarian says crankily, not bothering to look up from his work; he was trying to get some parts and such for a ship together because someone had ordered the parts today and wanted it tomorrow. Anakin didn't say anything else as he walked out the door, and after locking it he quickly ran to a stone house and walked in, taking his backpack off. "Mom, I'm home!" Anakin calls out, and an answer comes from nearby, "I'm in the kitchen, Anni!" Anakin walks to a room connected to the first room and then spotted his mother at the counter, cooking something.

"Dinner will be done in a bit." Shimi says, half hugging him before returning to preparing dinner. Anakin looked around slowly, thinking of what to do to cure his boredom. "Can I go outside while I wait?" Anakin asks. "Sure, but be careful." His mother answers. "Thanks mom!" He calls to her as he runs down the small hallway; soon he was outside and standing by his pod racer which he had crashed a while back. "Well, I can't say this will ever run again." Anakin jumps a bit, startled, but he soon realizes that it was one of his friends, Alice. "It's nothing I can't fix." He says, walking closer to the pod; he wasn't bragging, and they both knew that, he could fix it…in good time. Alice then slides out from under the pod racer and stands up; she loved tinkering with machinery as much as he did. "Hey, shouldn't you be eating?" She asks, crossing her arms. "Mom says it'll be done soon; you?" Anakin says. "You know Ti'ren is a slow cooker." Alice says, sighing.

Anakin stayed quiet, listening to the familiar sounds around him. In the distance he could hear chatter, and somewhere nearby it sounded as though a creature of some sort was eating something, and of course, footsteps and speeders walking and riding the main road. "Hey, Anni, guess what I heard some old pilots talking about at the diner." Alice whispers loudly. "What? Is there a Jedi in town? Or is there a new ship coming out?" Anakin asks, sounding excited and curious. "They were talking about a Jedi!" She says, smiling. "What about a Jedi?" Anakin asks. "Well, I heard one pilot say that there's actually a Jedi alive who is around a thousand years old!" Alice answers, speaking quickly as if she couldn't say it fast enough. "Wow…I wish I were a Jedi…" Anakin whispers, deep in thought now. "Maybe we are!" Alice says excitedly. "Yeah, we might be!" He says, smiling as he thought about it.

Both stayed quiet for a moment, theirs eyes wondering upward to the stars above as if all their answers were there; somewhere among the stars. But the silence was soon broken when Shimi called out, "Dinner is ready!" Both jumped a bit, startled, then Anakin turned to Alice, "See you later—hey, you could eat with us if you want." Alice hesitated before answering, "No, I'll go home and see if Ti'ren is done yet. Bye, Anni!" she then turned and began walking away. "Bye, Alice!" He called over his shoulder before hurrying inside where the smell of bread and meats met his nose. Anakin sat down at the table and began eating, then, after thinking of what he'd ask; he looked up at his mother. "Do you think I'm a Jedi?" He asks.

"I don't know, Anni. Do you think you're a Jedi?" She asks, looking at him sweetly. "No, I'm probably not." He says, looking upset, then after a moment he says angrily, "If I were a Jedi, I'd free all the slaves!" Shmi looked at her son sadly. "You could always dream." She says, frowning as she tried to cheer him up. "It's not the same." Anakin says unhappily, then picked up his bread and took a bite. "Alice says that she's heard some pilots say that there's a Jedi who's about a thousand years old." He says after a moment. "Anakin, you cannot believe everything you hear." She cautions. "But it's probably true!" Anakin says, raising his voice. "Probably, yes, it might be true, but it might not." Anakin sighs. His mother said nothing else about this, instead she continued eating in silence, but Anakin could tell that she didn't like him trusting in what others told, so he too, said not another word about it.

Soon they had finished eating, and after getting ready to go to bed, he laid down, and then Shimi pulled the covers over him and kissed his forehead. "Good night, Anni." She says sweetly. "Good night, mom." Anakin says in return, Shimi then stands straightens up and heads for the door. "Mom, am I a Jedi?" He asks before she leaves, and then Shimi turns around. "Anni—dream and hope. What do you think? Are you a Jedi?" She says with a smile, she then walks out of the room, turning the light off on her way out. Anakin stared at the roof for some time. "Am I a Jedi?" He asks himself, but of course, there was no answer…and Anakin was soon asleep, the question still on his mind.

Needless to say, I've split the story up, the answer as to why I did this is: 1, Because I plan on adding more to it; 2, this is long enough to be a chapter; and 3, I like the way this chapter ended.
